≡ FROM THE EDITOR?≡
Dear readers: In the aftermath of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it’s the right time to try a change in format for TSX. One of the issues that has kept the site from growing is the lack of discoverability of highlighted stories.
So, about 4-5 stories will be posted separately on TheSportsExaminer.com from Sunday through Thursday, with an added post of shorter items, our “Panorama.” Extra posts will be made for breaking news on Friday and Saturday as appropriate. So, more news will come to you more quickly and all posts will be announced on our Twitter feed?(yes, please sign up!).?
All of these stories will be summarized and linked in this “TSX Recap” that will be sent to you by e-mail – as usual – so you’ll have the entire menu of items for your perusal, but in a more compact form, allowing you to read those items you are most interested in, or all of them! This is an experiment and happy to hear your views. Thanks in advance for your advice.

● PARIS 2024: NBC reported an average daytime-plus-primetime audience of 30.7 million for the Paris 2024 Games. That’s way up from Tokyo 2020, but compared with available data on the primetime shows only, perhaps not quite at the level of Rio 2016. New Orleans had the highest ratings of any U.S. city. ● GYMNASTICS: The tangled, but hopeful road ahead for U.S. gymnastics star Jordan Chiles, after the International Olympic Committee awarded the Paris 2024 women’s gymnastics Floor Exercise bronze medal to Romania’s Ana Barbosu. There are opportunities to get her medal back (formally), but this is going to take some time. Read more here: https://bit.ly/tsx-2024-818chi?
● ATHLETICS: Two-time World Championships men’s 200 m medal winner Erriyon Knighton, 20, is being pursued by the Athletics Integrity Unit for a possible doping positive after he had been cleared by an arbitrator of the same charge by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. And the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency is using Knighton as a poster child for what it says is a U.S. “whitewash” of contamination cases, vs. its own clearance of 23 Chinese swimmers.?
There’s a lot to say about this (and USADA chief Travis Tygart has). Meanwhile, Knighton is running in the Diamond League 200 m this week in Lausanne! Read more here: https://bit.ly/tsx-2024-818kgtn
● PARIS 2024: Some big money was paid out to gold-medal winners in various countries, but two-time gold medalist Carlos Yulo of The Philippines probably did the best. ● ATHLETICS: U.S. sprint star Noah Lyles appeared on the Nightcap podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson?(pictured above), saying that, in the U.S., “The hard part is that we as a sport are not ready for the popularity that is going to come.” And he was specific about the shortcomings, and where he is on joining Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track program.?
