In the month of January, we bid a fond farewell to Dr. Shanta Thoutam, who has resigned from her role as the Chief Innovation Officer of Telangana. Her departure marks the conclusion of a chapter filled with unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to the innovation ecosystem. Dr. Shanta's nurturing spirit and steadfast leadership have played a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of TSIC through the promotion of social and grassroots innovation, building robust capacity for the government, and enhancing Telangana's participation at National pavilions.
Ajit Rangnekar, Interim CIO of Telangana, remarked on this transition, saying, “Thank you, Shanta, for your contributions. All of us at TSIC remain committed to delivering on the state’s priorities—innovations benefiting all citizens, especially those in rural parts of the state, and innovations that have strong societal benefits.”
Telangana continues to shine as a ‘Top Performer’ in fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem!
Telangana secures the coveted ‘Top Performer’ title at the State Startup Ranking (SSR) Awards 2022 by DPIIT, marking three consecutive years of national leadership in dynamic startup ecosystems. This success powerfully validates the Telangana Innovation Policy 2016, recognized by the SSR Framework 2022.
Telangana's commitment to entrepreneurship is evident in its 6,145 startups contributing 4.5% to India's GDP. Telangana's 100% funding support and capacity building of enablers demonstrate our dedication to becoming efficient in providing market access to startups and building a sustainable future.

Telangana Ascends in Social Entrepreneurship at Impulse 2024
The Social Entrepreneurship Summit - Impulse 2024 was organized by the Bala Vikasa - Center For Social And Responsible Business in collaboration with the Telangana Innovation Cell , on 27th January, 2024. It marked a pivotal moment for Telangana's social entrepreneurship landscape.
Inaugurated by Shri. Duddila Sridhar Babu, IT & Industries Minister, Government of Telangana, the event drew over 500 practitioners and enthusiasts to the BVCSRB Hyderabad. The comprehensive one-day program featured five panels and three workshops, delving into best practices, challenges, and funding mechanisms for social enterprises.
Alongside the workshops, the event included a round table with incubators in the presence of Jayesh Ranjan , Principal Secretary to IT, I&C. Ajit Rangnekar , the Interim CIO of TSIC, moderated a panel on 'Channeling Philanthropy and CSR to Social Enterprises,' offering diverse insights from industry experts.
Minister Duddila Sridhar Babu's announcement of the forthcoming MSME policy underscored Telangana's commitment to strengthening social entrepreneurship. Apart from the panels and workshops, the event also saw an expo of 60+ social startups and 15 grassroots innovators scouted by TSIC showcasing their transformative solutions, reinforcing Telangana's dedication to spearheading the social entrepreneurship movement.
A Mentorship Workshop for the growth of Agri-Tech startups under Mission 10X
On January 10, 2024, TSIC along with Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) , AgHub - Agri-Innovation Hub of PJTSAU & IKP Knowledge Park hosted a mentorship workshop for three promising agri-tech startups: RootsGoods , Farm Sathi , and FarmOR , as a part of Mission 10x.
Founders from each startup actively engaged in a brainstorming session alongside established mentors like Vijay Nadimint (CEO, AgHub), Bindu Nishal Andreuzza (VP Agri Innovation, IKP Knowledge Park, & Jonathan Philroy (Director of Food and Agri, RICH).
The workshop kicked off with an inspiring talk by Amrendra Singh , Founder of DeHaat , who shared valuable insights and suggestions for the three startups. Following this, the startups had the opportunity to meet with subject matter experts across various disciplines: PVGK Murthy (Business, Ingrain technologies), Swarup Beria (Finance, Investor), Dr. Sunitha (Technology, PJTSAU), and Dr. Shanta Thoutam (Former CIO).
These mentors provided expert guidance on crucial aspects like market creation, customer acquisition and retention, business expansion, investor engagement, and strategic planning for the next quarter. The collaborative effort equipped these startups with the knowledge and resources necessary to achieve sustainable growth and success in the dynamic agri-tech sector.
About Mission 10X: Mission 10X-SIGs is a six-month joint scaleup program for early revenue startups launched by T-Incubators & Accelerators Consortium - A network of incubators & accelerators across Telangana, led by Telangana State Innovation Cell. This collaborative initiative of TSIC, T-Hub & RICH along with Ag-Hub, AIC-CCMB, BITS Pilani, IKP, and IIIT Hyderabad is providing scaling opportunities including industry connects and market readiness to startups.

‘Harnessing Creative & Innovation Potential’ Workshop by GIAN, HBN, Amazon India & TSIC
On January 3, 2024, Hyderabad hosted the successful workshop 'Harnessing Creative and Innovation Potential,' organized by Gujarat Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network , Honey Bee Network , 亚马逊 India, and Telangana Innovation Cell . The event highlighted innovation's significance, uniting students, innovators, and mentors.
Professor Anil Gupta , Founder of GIAN & Honey Bee Network addressed innovation challenges, advocating for inclusive, community-driven idea generation. Brigadier P. Ganesham, Founder & President of Palle Srujana , emphasized on nurturing impactful ideas.
The workshop also featured success stories, including Padmashree Chintakindi Mallesham's global impact. Former CIO, Dr. Shanta Thoutam highlighted Telangana's efforts, citing its second position in NITI Aayog’s India Innovation Index.
‘Village Innovation Awards 2024’ shine a light on Grassroots Ingenuity in Telangana
On 75th Republic Day, the Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) illuminated 41 villages across 20 districts, hosting the 'Intinta Innovator Village Innovation Awards 2024.' With the support of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department, 44 innovators from various districts were recognized and awarded by their local sarpanches.
The Village Innovation Awards serve to encourage and acknowledge grassroots innovators while nurturing a culture of innovation. Gram Sarpanchs and Panchayat Secretaries honored innovators scouted through the 'Intinta Innovator' program in 2023. This celebration not only catalyzed positive change within villages but also ignited the spirit of innovation among younger generations.

Focusing on Inclusion & Innovation : TSIC wraps up Assistive Technology Summit 4.0
TSIC concluded the fourth edition of the Assistive Technology Summit (ATS 4.0) at T-HUB in Hyderabad on January 4, 2024 marking the World Braille Day.
The event welcomed Shri. Jayesh Ranjan , IAS, Principal Secretary IT and I&C, who expressed excitement about the summit's success reiterated on the increased public procurement of AT solutions.
The theme of summit was 'Involve - Inspire - Innovate,' and it featured insightful talks by six inspiring speakers, including Prateek Madhav, Cofounder & CEO of Assistech Foundation (ATF), Chief Guest of the event, while the speakers Meera Shenoy, Founder of Youth4Jobs, M. Bala Latha, Director of CSB IAS Academy, Dr. Ambady KG, Lecturer in Special Education at NIEPID, T.V. Aishwarya, Rehabilitation Counsellor at LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), Mahender Vaishnav, Former Cricketer of the Indian Blind Cricket Team shared insights into their personal life experiences and inspired the audience with their motivational words.
The summit also featured the launch of innovator T. Ravi Kiran’s 'Navinaut,' a product for blind to navigate efficiently that was identified through TSIC’s Intinta Innovator program, showcasing the concrete impact of an ecosystem support. In addition to the talks, an innovation exhibition showcased 10 products, creating a platform for dialogue and engagement on the transformative role of innovation in shaping an inclusive society.
