Try these two smart techniques to help master your emotions [Best Reads]

In my work as a behavioral designer, I come across important stories on how psychology influences our behavior. Every week, I share my round-up of the most important stories at the intersection of psychology, technology and business. I hope you enjoy them!

A psychologist explains why technology's impact on your brain is probably overblown (Quartz) Balancing technology use with other aspects of daily life seems reasonable, but there is a lot of conflicting advise about where that balance should be.

Reading Too Much Political News Is Bad for Your Well-Being (The Atlantic) Obsessing over politics could hurt your happiness and your relationships.

Why Your Brain Can Fight Distraction [VIDEO] (YouTube) Research shows that our brains are designed to be distracted. Our brain refocuses our attention four times every second.

How Hatred Came to Dominate American Politics (FiveThirtyEight) The level of hatred in American politics has reached levels that are not just bad for democracy, but are potentially destructive.

Try these two smart techniques to help you master your emotions (Ideas.Ted) By more clearly identifying our feelings or by re-categorizing them, we can reduce suffering.

Throw out your shitty to-do list - here's what to do instead (TheNextWeb) People use to-do lists thinking it will help them stay on track, manage time and be more productive. They couldn't be more wrong.

Happy reading!

This week has been full of anxiety. It's a random flare up. Or so I thought. I was thinking back on it, and I realized I was retreating into social media instead of say talking to my SO. These were good reads, I needed it to start getting out of my funk. Thank you.

Yes, I have never found that to-do lists work for me. As soon as I put them on the list, they became "done". So, like Yessi Bello Perez, I use "done lists". Much more satisfying at the end of the day to see what was actually done.
