TRY TO TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO TREAT YOU.

TRY TO TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO TREAT YOU.

This is a positive version of the "golden rule".

Don't be surprised if someone doesn't like to be told to "behave well." But this feeling of irritation may not come from the idea of "behaving well." Perhaps it is simply that the person has misunderstood what "behaving well" means.

One can find oneself confronted with a multitude of conflicting opinions and confusion when trying to determine what constitutes "good conduct". Perhaps we never understood (even if the teacher understood) why we received the "conduct" note we got. Perhaps we have even been given erroneous principles about this or we have admitted to them as: "children, we should not see them hear them", or "to behave well is to keep quiet".

However, it is possible to clarify the matter quite satisfactorily.

We do not need divine injunctions or laborious research in voluminous philosophical works to discover the meaning of the word "good." We can do this on our own.

In fact, almost anyone can find the answer.

If we began to think about how we would like to be treated, we could deduce what human virtues are. Just imagine how you would like others to behave with?you.

First of all, you would probably want to be treated?fairly:?you wouldn't want people to tell lies about you, or condemn you wrongly or too harshly. Right?

You'd probably want your friends and friends around?you?to be loyal. You wouldn't want them to betray you.

Maybe you'd like them to treat you with?sportiness?and not cheat or play dirty tricks on you.
