Try TikTok They Say...

It seems like lately we’ve been encouraging more and more of our clients to try out TikTok for their businesses (despite our obvious lack of dance skills). Why? Well, if you’re a personal brand trying to make a name for yourself on social media, this platform should not be overlooked. But, what if you’re a small business owner? How does TikTok work for you?

Build Name Recognition

Videos on TikTok are being seen at rates far higher than many other social media platforms. A simple 15-60 second video might get viewed on TikTok at rates 10s to 100s of times higher than on Instagram or Facebook stories. That means it’s far easier to get your business’s name in front of your potential clients. And with 800 million current users (and growing fast!), the potential for your business to be seen by this vast audience definitely shouldn’t be ignored.

Show Off Your Personality

The key to any social media site is to be social. So the more values, beliefs, and intimate stories you can share, the better chance you have of connecting with your audience on a deeper level. TikTok is mainly used as a place to create fun short form videos, often accompanied with music - and if you’re willing to think outside of the box, there’s incredible potential to create an authentic connection with your target market. The more you can get someone to say, “YES!! That’s so true. Hahaha!” the more they feel like they have just made a brand new friend. And… people love to support their friends and their businesses.

It’s Not Just for Kids Anymore

Something funny happened when people were asked to stay home during Covid-19’s quarantine… TikTok’s audience began to shift. Originally, this platform was seen as a place for teenagers. But while people were sitting around bored in their houses, they got curious: “What is the big deal about this app that my teenager is always on?” And suddenly, parents started getting in on the act! Millennials and Gen-Xers found that they too could lip sync, bust a move, and create hilarious short videos with the best of them! And with this shift, celebrities and big brands started experimenting and creating a TikTok presence as well.

Fastest Growing Social Media Platform

While Facebook still leads the pack as far as total number of active users, TikTok was by far the fastest growing social media site from 2019-2020. With a leap in users by over 300 million, they experienced a growth of 37.5% that year alone. And here’s the best part...

It’s Still New!

Unlike other larger social media sites, TikTok’s algorithms are still working in your favor. Your videos aren’t being buried or hidden… yet. Now is the time to get on there and build your brand name while it’s still easy! Also, they are just now starting to make changes tailored towards businesses, like the ability to add a website to your profile page. Once that happens, you can likely expect a big jump in visits to your website!

Before you brush it off and simply declare that TikTok just isn’t for you, we highly encourage you to check it out first. Start out by searching keywords related to your industry and see what pops up. The results may surprise you! And if you’re interested in learning more about ways you can market your business on TikTok, contact us so we can set up a time to chat. We’re always happy to brainstorm ideas and answer questions!
