To be relevant in an industry where multiple sources are vying for your customer’s attention, I’ve found that the following has helped me better understand how to meet their specific needs.?


LISTEN

One of the most important skills is being able to listen and hear the customer on their needs and goals. Before talking about the newest item out, it is important to first listen to the customer and see what they are trying to achieve because you want them to feel heard and really make sure you are going to help them in their direction. We are here to guide them and provide the best items that fit their line, and not just try to sell the hottest item out right now.


TRUST

With active listening, trust develops over time. Customers are more likely to trust you when they know that you genuinely care about their opinions, concerns, and pain points. This trust is essential when wanting to develop customer loyalty to your brand for years to come.


UNDERSTANDING

Understanding comes with both listening and trust combined. The more these skills are engaged, the more you will be able to understand and relate to who your customer really is. You’ll be able to understand their values and be aware of what you bring to align with them, creating a more customized experience.
