Try To Not Compare Yourself To Others

Try To Not Compare Yourself To Others

This is a damn hard one. I’m guilty of this more than anyone, but I am improving drastically & I see so many of us do this constantly.

We must never forget this: David Goggins talks about this concept quite a bit…which is that you are only competing against yourself in life. There is no one else in the way of your dreams besides YOU.

So why compare yourself to others?

Some of you probably don’t think you do this, but more than likely you’re deceiving yourself. Do you ever get on Instagram and look at the ‘projected’ lives that other people post? Then compare his or her life to yours? Or see the success of someone else and become upset, intimidated or sad because you don’t have the success that they do? Do you ever just feel frustrated or sad after you get off some social media platform?

Be honest. I definitely do become frustrated & sad sometimes, though not in the amount that I used to.

It’s a deep-rooted, hard-ass habit to break. And it does nothing but causes me pain when I compare myself to others. I don’t doubt that you’ve felt this. But it is self-inflicted; it all starts in the mind.

We’re taught to think a certain way due to the influences that we had when we were young (parents, friends, teachers, coaches, etc.). They taught you to think a certain way, certain beliefs about the world and about yourself*.

This is a self-inflicted, suffering mindset.

Suffering is a type of thinking that gets passed down generation to generation between families.

This type of mindset plays a lot of different roles in the quality of our lives, none of them good.

**One of the biggest things that the suffering mind does is compare itself to others >>> all the time.

>> The only person you should compare yourself to is your previous self <<

To the guy or girl that you were a year ago. Are you better than before? Compare yourself here.

Because you are the only key to your success, happiness, or for you to achieve whatever it is that you want to.

Of course, others can help you, but they can’t hand you your dream, BUT they can show you how to go and get it.

“The bottom line is that life is one big mind game. The only person you are playing against is yourself.” – David Goggins, Can’t Hurt Me

That is the truth. Compare you to you.

Go Beat Yourself.

Hope this helps.
