Is the truth within your data?

It is meant to be a simple question, but often turns into complexity. We expect a lot from our data, we want to understand trends, habits, indicators, reasons for this, and reasons for that. We want to know the truth. In the world of Continuous Improvement, we look at data every day, trying to navigate to the truth, sometimes out of necessity, others out of curiosity. What I have learned is that the truth is like striving for perfection, it is almost unattainable (and often undefinable). What is within reach, is the ability to gain confidence in your data to make better decisions. Instead of the truth, confidence is ultimately what we should be striving for.
