The Truth Untold: Am I happy?

The Truth Untold: Am I happy?

When I was in 18, I got an offer to study in the foundation of business administration at local college. I was excited because I got them first compared to my friends who still waiting for their letter. However, it was not enough for me.

I got my bachelor degree three years after that and I thought this is enough to make me happy. It was not enough. I have found a job and become my boss’s favorite. I thought this is what I want but I still felt like it was not enough

As soon as I stepped into the MBA life, my whole life took a sharp turn. The two years were busy and they went by in a flash, but they shaped numerous parts of my life. It was crucial in helping me determine my direction and my potential. I thought this is what I'd been waiting for an entire of my life. Still, something is missing.

No matter what I achieved, I still felt small and thinking it was not enough.

.............................

One day, I was walking back home. I saw this little boy standing on the sidewalk alone. Feeling concerned, I paid closer attention to him and realize that he is blind. I stood next to him and asked why he is alone. He told me that he was paying attention to sound around him. I saw him angled his head upward and clicked over it with his tongue, maybe try to listen for the echo. I was impressed by how strongly motivated for a child who is born blind to learn something new by himself. He doesn't even know how it is like to see.

It makes me realize that I was selfish. I'm too busy chasing for what I want and start to neglect the things that truly important to me. This is our major problem today; we take everything way too seriously without even realizing that we have such a tiny existence of ourselves in this universe. We want to achieve everything in so little time. We need to stop comparing ourselves because everyone has his or her own path. Of course, we are not going to be happy every day in life. Surely, we can find happiness either with a career we love, a good friend to laugh with and a family to love.

Appreciate your life. And most importantly, appreciate yourself.
