Success. We talk about it. We chase it.
But do we truly understand it?
For many, the pursuit of success feels like running on a treadmill. We put in the effort, but the destination remains elusive.
What’s holding us back?
Steve Cohen suggests that the biggest barrier isn’t external—it’s internal.
Imagine this: You’re a bright, capable person. You’ve got the skills, the drive, and the opportunities. Yet, at the end of the year, your results don’t reflect your potential. Sound familiar? You’re not alone.
The fear of success is real and powerful.
It sneaks up on you, whispering doubts and feeding procrastination. It’s not just about reaching the top; it’s about believing you deserve to be there.
Here’s the thing: People often see the world not as it is, but as they want it to be. We cut the data to fit our narratives, bending reality to our will.
But there’s a problem. When we’re not honest with ourselves, we can’t see the truth. And without truth, success remains a mirage.
The internal war is the toughest battle.
It’s a fight to strip away illusions and face the hard facts about ourselves. It demands transparency, reflection, and brutal honesty.
Are you ready to admit your flaws?
Are you willing to confront your failures without excuses?
The more truthful you are, the closer you get to real success.
It’s easy to blame the market, the economy, or other external forces. “It’s the market,” we say, as if that absolves us of responsibility. But what does that even mean? The market will always be there, unpredictable and indifferent.
We don’t create the world; we live in it. So, what are you going to do about it?
Accountability is key.
The more you own your actions and their outcomes, the more you can change them.
Success isn’t a matter of luck or external conditions. It’s about how you respond to those conditions. It’s about resilience, adaptation, and relentless self-improvement.

So, take a step back.
Look at your year.
Look at your goals.
Were they realistic? Did you put in the work? Were you honest with yourself?
It’s time to stop blaming the world and start taking control.
Success is closer than you think. It’s not out there, waiting to be discovered. It’s within you, waiting to be unleashed.
Be brave.
Be honest.
And most importantly, be accountable. The world is happening, whether you like it or not. What are you going to do about it???
???BK Biweekly Quote:? “The more truthful you can be with yourself and the more that you can be reflective and get to real transparency with yourself, the more likely that you will fix the problems that you have and deal with the issues that you have so that you can perform at a level of maximum performance. The more you're willing to ignore it, the more that you're willing to blame the outside world for your problems.”— Steve Cohen
??BK Tiny Tip:? Embrace radical self-honesty. Each week, set aside a few minutes to reflect on your actions and decisions. Ask yourself, “Am I being truthful about my efforts and outcomes?” Acknowledging your reality is the first step toward transforming it.
??BK Mind-blowing Fact:? Research from Dr. Tasha Eurich, an organizational psychologist, reveals that 95% of people believe they are self-aware, yet only 10-15% actually are. This startling gap highlights how self-deception can significantly hinder personal growth and success.
??BK Journaling Prompt:? Reflect on a recent challenge or setback. In what ways did you attribute the outcome to external factors? Now, dig deeper—how did your actions, decisions, or mindset contribute to the result? What truths about yourself are you avoiding, and how can facing them help you move closer to your goals?
