TRUTH RECONCILLIATION COMMISSION
After the collapse of the Apartheid Regime In South Africa in in 1994 , The New government In charge of Democratic South Africa led by MR Nelson Mandela and Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu formed a " court -like government body " aimed at peacefully addressing the gross human rights violations commited by the Police and other government officials. The commission Intended to bring both victims and perpetrators of Gross human rights violations In the spirit of Peace and healing. The Perpetrators had to confess their crimes by explaining explicitly how these crimes were commited and when, they had to completely tell factual statements and explicit details of the gross human rights violations. Over 2000 confessions were recorded In return the perpetrators recieved full amnesty. The Truth Reconciliation Commission was heavily criticised by the majority of Black South Africans, they accused the commission of being too lenient on the perpetrators , many also claimed the commission did not bring closure to the Victims of gross human rights violations. The commission also lost its credibility when they failed to charge and accuse Former President and Nobel Peace Laureate Mr FW. De Klerk for facilitating Gross human rights violations on Black South Africans. This "mistake" was seen as the greatest failure of the commission and has exposed the hypocrisy of the Justice System.
