Chief Executive Officer @ The Brand Architechs | Operations Security, Cyber Security, Technology Security Assessments
To understand my perspective, I think it’s important to give a some background. Present day I’m both a National Channel Director of Strategy at an evolving MSP for Cyber-Security as a service and spent the last year as a member of the board of directors for the industry’s only business resource group devoted to diversity and inclusion within our Channel Partner's sector. Currently, I serve humbly as a Chair Committee Member for Membership & Mentorship . However, I started my life in the rural areas of Alabama, USA and lived in Germany for 4 years . Raised by a mom that worked 40-60 hours a week to make ends meet, often I tended to my younger brothers. I was in College when I interacted with an African American peer, for the first time. Before that, the only non-white people I saw in person were playing against me on the basketball court. Writing this statement, just seems odd.
I grew up with a lot of respect for our Military. My dad was a trained snipper within the ARMY of the U.S. military. He taught me how to respect those that served our country. I was proudly taught to be grateful for our freedoms and to always honor the President of the United States of America. Back in the 1980's when a solider was transitioning out of the military, our country didn't have a lot of resources available to help a solider re-adjust back to civilian lifestyle. Sadly, after several years of him jumping job to job, I found myself in a situation of only being able to help my mother by caring for my brother's. I really didn't understand earlier on that feeding my brother's ketchup and crackers for a meal was severely sad. After all, my mom worked so hard to pay the bills. When school wasn't in session, we children had no help. It was frustrating and embarrassing to say the least.
When I was in high school it wasn't like I even thought about going to college. I was focused on how am I going to protect my brothers and myself from the drug addiction that my father had developed. I quickly found a way out but unfortunately I found myself in a different situation. Once I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, it sparked a desire for me to future proof my ability to provide everything that I might need. My goal was super focused to provide the best life possible, for my upcoming motherhood. At the time, I was literally pregnant, had my daughter, attended College on an average of 8 courses- a semester, recruited college students for the local college program and earned my Bachelor Degree in Business Administration within 2 1/2 years. I minored in Human Resources and dared to take some Master Course work in Technology.
I never considered myself privileged because of the color of my skin. I was raised in a way that was respectful of all races. I was taught my history of being of German decent and took pride in my American Indian heritage. I fought like a scrappy yard dog for all that I had earned. I taught myself to not be a victim of the circumstance but to make myself a survivor. I stumbled several times, but always motivated myself to improve.
Fast forward to 2021, I have a daughter graduating high school (looking at colleges). My son is going into the 8th grade and very athletic. My children have a more diverse childhood than I did. They are surrounded by love and hate. It seems the media can sometimes accelerate certain topics. While it is possibly good for the media, it is important to note not all white people are racist. Not all black people are dangerous, living off the government or criminals. Not all white people are well to do or safe to be around. All white people are not wrong for every word they speak and all black people are not right, regardless of what social media is trying to influence. So, regardless of where you stand on the topic, it is never OK to …lump a group of people together under a specific ideology based solely on race or skin color.
I am here to help Veteran's and Females start up their own companies by following the new guidelines of Cybersecurity Maturity Model certification (CMMC). I will help anyone that wants help, within my limitations. Our government allocates funding for small to medium companies that are disadvantaged. These program's help small business's earn government contracts for the services given. It is my goal to educate children about technology and to engrain the confidence that anyone can create opportunities for future successes. We live in the land of the free. We have to learn how to respect each other and lift one another up for success.
If you are a person that feels you have the willingness to learn and the ability to not fear technology, you can thrive with us! I have spent 17 years in technology. The connections I have made over this time frame are tremendous. This is the best time to learn a new trade within the technology sector. Please reach out to me! It is my pleasure to be a trusted resource.
