Truth is the Preamble to Purpose
Steve Nash
Our goal is to grow the net worth of our clients by employing investment strategy that has worked well historically
We live in a post-modern world where many of the values of the western developed world that were once shared are now more individualistic. Most of us don't think about it this way but we have all been shaped and given great freedom by the Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation, the Enlightenment, industrialization, nationalism, modernity and technology.
All of these great movements have increased our standard of living in a social and economic way, but more importantly have brought great personal and individual freedom for huge swaths of the population of the developed western world. We should all have great compassion for the populations of countries with emerging economies, where citizens daily struggles for subsistence prevent the freedom we enjoy in the west. A contrarian skeptic concerning the developed world's problems might say we should all have compassion for us because we have too much freedom. Regardless, one consequence of our great freedom is socially divergent views of what truth is. Because we are now free to believe whatever we choose, my truth is not your truth or so the argument goes.
My view of this freedom conundrum (personal freedom is both an opportunity and a potentially huge problem) is that unless we develop a clear view of what we believe is true in practical, sociological, psychological, scientific, emotional and spiritual ways we will all have a very difficult time establishing an important purpose in life. And where there is no clearly defined purpose in life we humans tend to drift. We all need to be doing something and moving toward something we consider important and significant.
