Truth, Karma and Teachers have no favourites!

In today's world people are highly inclined towards the idea of being liked by those around them. they take pride to know how many people like them and this has been human nature for centuries. But today's 'instant gratification' smitten population is loud and vocal about it.

In this event many times people would talk about how they were favourite student of their teachers and how their teachers liked them more. Well! Its good you were noticed but an ethical and principally correct teacher has never had favourite students. Why? The reason is simple, there are a few professions in the world that can never be partial, imagine you standing in front of a judge and he say, " oh this is my favourite plaintiff /defendant." If you are not who he is talking about you would feel cheated, same way if doctor treating patients looks at one person in the crowd and says, "Oh there is my favourite patient!" You will be surprised. These professions have to be impartial and the same way an educator or a teacher cannot be having favourite student, she/ he must be impartial, the whole class is their workplace.

For those who argue with a practical and realistic approach about the job of a teacher would always say a teacher's job is to teach students, make them qualify exams and create a profession-ready human resource. But even they cant beat this statement that teachers cannot have favourites, because if they do, not all students will become a profession- worthy human resource. A teacher, by all means have to be impartial, open to communicate and approachable to all the students, because they are responsible equally for every student's growth, nurturing and development.

But there is something that the teachers can also call their favourite- that's outcomes. A teacher who uses outcome based learning methodology in today's world is the most successful one. The outcomes that she/ he set for her students and their learning when achieved will make the teacher a favourite of the students and make the teacher proud of her students as well.

Therefore, Just like truth and karma a teacher cannot have favorites. teachers may be proud about their students, but favoritism destroys the sanctity of the practice of teaching!
