The truth about how South Africa really works.
Every month you get some money for whatever it is you do for society. You and your nearest and dearest need this money in order to survive: to eat, drink, sleep.
Ever wondered where this money comes from? Who creates it, who destroys it? How much to create and destroy? The answers may surprise you.
In my work with banks I am often amazed that senior executives do not really understand the fundamentals of their industry - namely the fundamentals of money.
Get the lowdown on the true nature of money and how our South Africa really works by watching the first video in money4mzansi's four part video series on South Africa, its economic challenges and its possible futures.
What is money4mzansi? It's a non-profit that I started. I started it because I am very concerned about South Africa's future. My concerns started taking shape in 2008, just after returning to South Africa after living in Europe for 10 years. My concerns led me to research developmental economics and history in terms of economic development. The more I learnt, the more concerned I became. I continued my research from 2008 through to early 2011, but this time my focus was on possible solutions to South Africa's challenges.
During 2011 I started writing the freely available ebook Societal Renaissance to summarise my concerns and our options to deal with the unique challenges we face in South Africa. I published it in 2013.
My concerns have grown. Much of what I predicted is happening to South Africa now. Our government's economic doctrines, based upon the sage advice of modern day economists, are leading us to ruin.
I cannot just sit by, see this unfold and do nothing. money4mzansi is my attempt at spreading awareness of not only the grave peril we face in South Africa, but also awareness of what we can do to secure a prosperous future for us all.
Securing a prosperous future for South Africa is unlikely. Let me say that again: securing a prosperous future for South Africa is unlikely. The same 'ol same 'ol is definitely not gonna cut it.
So have an open mind, check out money4mzansi's video series and let's debate. But we should not debate too long. Much better to start now and break some things before it is too late and everything is broken.
