The Truth Behind the 911 F.E.E. (For Everything Else)

You are likely familiar with the expression, “I’m being nickled and dimed to death here!” The premise of that statement is that small subsets of a much larger bill will ultimately go unnoticed to most, as the scrutiny required to find each instance is typically more costly of an effort compared to just paying the bill. “Spending a dollar to save a quarter’, is another example. I’ve watched this happen for years and wondered why it was allowed - sad when RI E911 had to give back the Jersey barriers it had borrowed after 9/11 and had no funds to replace them ! Makes you wanna go Huh??!

Callers are dying because 9-1-1 cannot locate them while PSAPs struggle to find? funding for personnel, training and technology upgrades,? Legislators at all levels of government need to be held accountable for the misappropriation of 9-1-1 fees. If the politicians do not resolve this on their own, it is time to vote them out of office.? We need to support Rep. Chris Collins and the 911 Fee Integrity Act (H.R. 6424).? Thanks for keeping this in the forefront Mark.

Great post!? I have been posting extensively on LinkedIn about the importance of the emergency management industry (i.e., professionals and vendors) forming a trade association.? With a trade association that represents the full spectrum of the industry, revenue diversions like this could be stopped. I also doubt that the casualty loss deduction would have been torched in the tax bill last year.? But until the industry (from 911 product/service vendors to debris removal contractors) comes together and uses their collective strength, emergency management needs will continue to get rolled like this.? That's politics.?
