Trusting Your Intuition

Trusting Your Intuition

This week I have been re-reading "Go Slow To Grow" by Jackie Jarvis. I was taken by the pages on "Trusting Your Intuition". She explains how she has been in many situations, spent time with people, in relationships and in business, when she knew that something was not quite right, but continued anyway, hoping that everything would work itself out. There were times when she didn't quite trust herself or her intuition.

She explains that often the signs were there to enable her to learn and move on, but the more she ignored them, the worse the situations became, It was as if the signs had to scream at her to allow her to listen, presenting her with more pain until she eventually shifted and moved, taking the learning with her.

She has also experienced the opposite, when the situation, personal relationship, project or partnership just flowed. It was easy, smooth and fun - things worked out, and went from strength to strength.

What are the signs that let you know if something is right for you?

Jackie Jarvis suggests there are several common indicators:

  • There was a coincidence or indicator early on;
  • It felt right not wrong;
  • It flowed as opposed to being continually blocked;
  • I was easy as opposed to being continually difficult;
  • It gave you pleasure rather than pain;
  • You enjoyed the journey as opposed to hating the process;
  • You could be yourself as opposed to feeling false.

Jackie suggests that signs on your journey through life are everywhere when you slow down and allow yourself the time and space to see them.

We can all overthink things and worry too much, losing trust in ourselves and the path we are on. This happens to everyone, no matter how outwardly successful they appear on the surface.
