Trusted Advisor: Key Attributes of Outstanding Internal Auditors

It seems that everywhere we look in the world, "trust" is in short supply. Investors struggle to maintain trust in capital markets, citizens find it difficult to trust elected leaders, the political left doesn't trust the political right, and mistrust between traditional nation state adversaries seems to be making an unwelcome comeback. In this environment being a trusted advisor has such a welcome ring to it. Internal auditors, in particular, strive to gain the trust of those they audit and serve.
My new book, Trusted Advisors: Key Attributes of Outstanding Internal Auditors, takes an in-depth look at the character and leadership traits shared not only by great internal auditors, but by anyone who seeks to influence decisions and earn a “seat at the table.” The book includes analysis and comments from chief audit executives (CAEs) from Fortune 500 companies and hard data on the skills valued most among trusted advisors.
Over my 40-plus years in internal auditing, including more than 25 years working inside The Beltway, I’ve learned that the key attributes that make for the best internal auditors are shared by most trusted advisors. Trusted Advisors: Key Attributes of Outstanding Internal Auditors is now available through The Internal Audit Foundation’s online bookstore.

5 年After reading your two recent books - “Trusted Advisors: Key Attributes of Outstanding Internal Auditors” and “Lessons learned on the Audit Trail”- I wrote an article on the Ethical Resilience of the Internal Auditor which has been recently published on the AIIA magazin "Internal Audit". I found your ideas very useful to me on this challenging subject. I'd really like to share my article and have some enlightening feedback on it. In case, I will happy to translate it in English and send it to you. Thank you very much and best regards
