Trust Your Instincts, Act On the Opportunity and Take Decisions Now This week one of my Ex Colleagues called up to check on the Startup idea he had been working on some time and whether he should quit his job to Start. I advised him to Trust his Instincts based on whatever information he has and take the decision. Sometimes we make decisions that we think long and hard about, but often we make decisions simply because it feels right. Call it a gut feel, a hunch, an intuition, or an instinct—what they all have in common is that we don't know why we feel the way we do, yet the feeling can be so compelling, it moves us to act. Over the years at Jeevitam We have cultivated this ability to act with conviction early, learnt to listen to our gut feel to make calls. In the context of the ongoing crisis where things are changing so fast and with so much uncertainty, we need to Trust our Gut Feel, Our Instinct to take those important decisions now and Move Forward.

In the face of information overload, mounting risks and uncertainty, and intense pressures to make the right decisions, there is often debilitating evidence that delays our decision making. We put the choice off, rather than deciding. Trusting our gut allows us the freedom to move forward. I believe the best decisions are based on our gut feel. They're supported by some data, but they begin and end with Intuition. Paralysis sets in when we expect the data to make decisions for us. No way Google had enough data on YouTube to justify the price they paid to buy it, same way Facebook didn't have enough data to justify spending $ 1 Billion to buy an app with 25 Million users called Instagram. But both companies moved early based on Intuition of Potential and they've reaped the rewards for years. If We Want Outsized Returns in Life, we need to act on opportunity before the Tipping Point of Evidence.

Since the impact of Ongoing Crisis is likely to be with us for a long time, it is wise to accept that the New Normal, or at least its first stage has already started some time back. This New Normal is predicted to be different from our recent past. This means that Opportunities and Possibilities will arise for those who can anticipate this new future and take decisions based on whatever information/data available and their Gut Feel/Intuition. We are now facing a situation where we need to Abandon our Past and its underpinning assumptions in order to embrace a future of opportunities and possibilities, take those important decisions and move fast before it's too late.
