I honestly cannot believe the amazing people I get to hang out with in the course of my work. I wouldn't want to hoard all that inspiration and insight, so I will share some highlights from the conversations that I had in the past week.

Design a Definition of Success That Suits You

My conversation with Kellyn Bechtold, MBA MPH was well timed on International Women's Day, because she shared that she once left a job to the comment that she was "too feminist for this field". Of course, as editor-in-chief of FEM I am not afraid of a little feminism, and we happily chatted and shared reading suggestions.

Kellynn is a career coach who supports women that are hitting all the traditional career milestones, but are somehow still feeling dissatisfied with their work or how it impacts their life. It's all about finding the definition of career success that suits their desired lifestyle.

The idea that we have to design our work and life in a way that suits our personalities and priorities, is one I also talk about often, albeit in the context of marketing and business development.

Stop Closing Sales, Start Opening Relationships

It is a theme that also came up during Lucem Live with Andrew Lopez . Nicole Adriana Stone and I got super deep into a discussion about finding people who are aligned with us and trusting that they will connect us with the right clients. Collaboration, Nicole very astutely pointed out, requires an abundance mindset. We cannot hold on to the fear that we may miss out or lose out to competitors, but rather embrace the idea that there are more clients than we would know what to do with and we can generously share with others.

This is a founding principle of FEM, where I facilitate the creation of a collaborative publication that is sent to the combined audiences of the participants. You never know who is lurking in the audiences of your collaborators and they may be the perfect fit for your offer, and vice versa.

Tapping Into Your Team's Authenticity

I had a Conversation that Counts with Intrapreneurial Communication Catalyst Christine Michaelis about the importance of good communication in the workplace and how it can help motivate your staff and unlock their intrapreneurial spirit, which will inspire them to help move your business forward. One of the topics that we touched upon is the importance of allowing people to lean into their strengths and giving them the support to take ownership of their work.

"Listening to what people are saying and how they are saying it, will give you so many clues on how you can support them, what's motivating them and what's stressing them"

Awakening your team's intrapreneurial spirit allows them to work in and for your business in a similarly unique and collaborative way that we discussed in regard to solo entrepreneurs and small business owners.
