Trust in Universal Timing: A Lesson from the Streets of Balat - Istanbul
Today, I was reminded of a profound truth about life: timing is always perfect, even when it seems inconvenient. It began with a 1:30 PM dental appointment, and Dr. Edward Oliver, my associate, planned to join me for support. We allowed plenty of time to reach the clinic, but when Dr. Oliver attempted to order an Uber, his app malfunctioned. After a few frustrating minutes of trying to reset it, he used my phone instead. While mildly irritating, this delay was the pivotal moment that shaped the entire day.
As our Uber journey began, we headed toward the clinic, passing through Balat, a vibrant neighborhood in Istanbul. From a distance, we saw something unsettling—a woman lying in the middle of the two-lane street. Our Uber driver, Hakki, immediately stopped. Without hesitation, Dr. Oliver jumped out of the car to help. As he assessed her condition, it became clear that the woman was unconscious, but thankfully, she was still alive. Dr. Oliver, with the calm precision of a doctor in action, began applying pressure to ensure blood flow to her brain, preventing a seizure or further damage.
A small crowd gathered, but Dr. Oliver remained focused, working diligently until paramedics arrived. As they loaded the woman into the ambulance, I realized something important: every moment of this day, from the delayed Uber app to the precise timing of our route, led to that critical moment where Dr. Oliver was present to help her.
Had the Uber app worked on Dr. Oliver's phone, we would have taken a different car, passed through that street earlier, and never witnessed the woman’s distress. We wouldn’t have been there to help, and a qualified doctor might not have been present in her time of need. Every step, every delay, was orchestrated perfectly by the Universe to align with that moment.

The lesson here is simple but powerful: trust in timing. The Universe knows far more than we do about when things should happen. We often want to control the pace of our lives—speeding things up or slowing them down to fit our expectations—but today, I witnessed firsthand that everything happens exactly when it is meant to.
From now on, I will remind myself not to question the timing of events. We may not always understand the "why" in the moment, but trust that everything unfolds with purpose. Today, the Universe aligned perfectly to place us at the right time and place to help someone in need, and for that, I am deeply grateful. Dr. Oliver’s skill and the kindness of our driver, Hakki, were not coincidences; they were all part of a greater plan.
Remember this as you navigate your life: nothing is an accident, and everything happens for a reason. Trust in the timing of the Universe. It will always guide you to where you need to be, at precisely the right moment.
