Trust Starts In Your Mind

The other day I was excitedly talking to a group of commercial insurance sales producers about my new masterclass:?Become A Top Sales Producer by Winning The Thinking Game Of Selling.?And the connection between our thinking and how we create and build trust. They all seemed excited to learn more about it, except for one person who sat at the back of the room.

He spoke up and said many people were just plain untrustworthy, and there was nothing anyone could do to build a workable relationship with them. Are there some people who are dishonest and deceptive, for sure?

However, the odd thing about trust is that it originates in your mind with your thoughts. So it’s an emotional state of mind. We only know our thoughts by interpreting what becomes conscious, such as visual imagery and the words we hear ourselves say in our heads.

You can try different strategies to build trust with others, but if your thoughts and feelings about another person are pessimistic or defeatist, your thinking will sabotage your intended outcome. You see, the outer world isn’t controlling the inner world unless you let it happen.

Do people change? Of course, they do! But the change is often preceded by someone else shifting their thinking and perspective toward them.
