I always tell my clients: "it's a process".
It's funny how we sometimes think it's OK to build out a big document in several steps, with many rounds of colleague-reviews and multiple versions.
Yet, when we are creating a visual we are often not that patient. ??
?Somehow, sometimes people expect me to create a visual in one go. And sometimes they even would say, over the phone: I"'m not creative,?you?figure that out, you make the drawing."
?No, no, no, no. It's not like that.
We start with what we?have, and I make that visual. And then, after a few days of thinking and processing, we have our second interaction. Then we go and?improve?on the first version and create a second visual.
?That's how the visual evolves into something that fits on every level. The motto I use is:?"Creating is hard, improving is easy".
That's why I love creating something for my clients. And then, together, we'll improve on that.
I ask a lot of questions and I write down all the answers.
Then I put all that into a drawing.
Sometimes I don't know exactly what "the most important thing" is. So I take a guess - based on my best estimate.
?Then the team can think of it, choose what is the essence of what they are doing — again: creating it hard, improving is easy —.
?The funny thing is that working from a?distance?improved this, it made it easier!
You see, before I did live sessions. That means we had a group sessions to create a visual, and?we needed to meet?every time to improve it.

Now we share ideas through WhatsApp, asynchronous. We have much more interactions and versions then before. This makes the creative process?easierand?quicker!
It takes me just 30 minutes to create a new visual on A4 and share it. Everyone can react with thoughts or ideas. This really allows us to have more interactions in the same space of time.
?? Our thinking goes faster, and the quality of our work improves.
I had not expected that working via Whatsapp would allow for smaller steps to take place and for work to be more synchronic.
