Trust God in the Waiting
"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." Psalm 27:14 NIV
Waiting is tough, we're hardwired for action – to move, to do, and to conquer. But our calendar isn't always aligned with God's. He sees the big picture, the complex web of our lives and all its events that we can't even begin to comprehend. When God says wait, for us it should not be a passive act. It should be an active trust in God's character and His promises.
Think about Abraham, who waited years for a son, or Joseph, whose purpose for his trials took decades to find clarity. Their stories, especially as described in Hebrews 11, show us that waiting is never about inactivity; it is a time to prepare our hearts. A time to pray and being ready for when God says it's our go time.
So how should we approach those seasons of waiting? Here are a couple of actionable steps:
Prepare Your Heart: Use this time to draw closer to God. Dig deeper into His Word, seeking His presence daily.
Stay Active in Faith: Just because you're waiting doesn't mean you have to stay idle. Look for opportunities to serve and to grow.
Be Patient: Remember, the Scripture tells us that "with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day" (2 Peter 3:8). His timing is perfect, even when in our process of waiting it may feel slow to us.
Waiting is a chance to grow stronger and to let hope take root. To prepare for the blessings that are just on the horizon. God keeps His promises, and His timing is, without a doubt, impeccable.
