Trump's Legal Woes from the Perspective of a Process Control Engineer
#DonaldTrump is famous for testing any/all #constraints, whether they be legal constraints, mores, norms, morality, anything. He'll go as far as he can get away with, generally relying on his "fixer" to get him out of trouble if he crosses the line a little bit too far.
His inner #ControlAlgorithm has a very high #gain. If he thinks you have slighted him in the slightest, he'll wreak vengeance on you with no holds barred, whether it's by doxing, social media fomenting of violence, even calling for the death penalty against you, anything he thinks he can get away with.
Once he realizes he has crossed the line and suffers the consequences, only then will he back off by decreasing his #ControlAction. So he titrates his actions according to the #feedback he receives by crossing the line. But only if he gets that feedback in time.
All process control engineers know that the most difficult #DynamicElement is #DeadTime. Unfortunately for Trump, there's a lot of dead time in the civil and criminal justice systems. For example, it was over two years after his "perfect" phone call to #Georgia Secretary of State #BradRaffensperger before he realized that he'd be indicted for that and similar actions in his vain attempt to overturn Biden's 2020 election win. That long dead time prevented him from reversing his control actions, until it was way too late to pull back.

Once he's caught up in the justice system, now he's dealing with a lot of #nonlinearities. For example, any hard deadline is inherently #nonlinear. Meet the deadline (e.g., to request a jury trial), and the gain is 1. Miss the deadline, and the gain is 0. There is no linear (gradual) transition; it’s a #StepChange from 1 to 0 overnight after the (missed) deadline. All process control engineers know that nonlinearities make control even more difficult.
So Donald Trump is learning the hard way that he should have listened to his lawyers (i.e., #SmithPredictors) who undoubtedly warned him of the ultimate consequences of his actions. Those lawyers are all well aware of the long dead time and nonlinearities up ahead.
Too bad for him, he didn't listen. Not even a novice #ControlEngineer would have been that foolish.
