#TrumpBaby : A Creative Idea with Crowdfunding
When a #TrumpBaby blimp took flight over Britain's Houses of Parliament, it was a political revolt to the arrival of Trump in the UK, for a 4 day visit. It was also political satire at its best. A motley group calling itself the Trump Babysitters might have stumbled on to a brilliant creative idea in the process. Trump Babysitters dressed in orange pumped helium into the blimp while a hundred thousand took to the streets in protests against Trumps policies. The blimp mocked Mr Trump as a whining nappy-clad baby hanging on to a mobile phone.
But beyond the political revolt, this was a creative idea that built engagement, enormous amount of PR, media interest and made global news which amplified a public revolt. #TrumpBaby is not just a blimp, it is a brand created for a social and political cause.
It is also a 360 idea because it incorporated everything from event management, PR to social media. And it has proven that good creative ideas can be crowdfunded. The crowdfunding was done by the UK site crowdfunder.co.uk which on a stretch target of £ 40,000 had already achieved £ 32,000 with 11 days left to go. In fact the group that created #Trumpbaby, now have enough money for a smaller second blimp and to take the figure on a world tour making it a world event.

The baby was produced at a cost of £5,000 and created by Matt Bonner, a 36 year old graphic designer from London. He is known to have told the press "Our motivation is quite clearly mockery. It is the only language Donald Trump understands." Leo Murray the brain behind the Trumpbaby idea is known to have told the New Journal :“It is a continuation of the great British tradition of political satire. It has a long pedigree here, especially when it comes to fighting fascism. For example, we sang ‘Hitler has only got one ball’. This is a similar, uniquely British response. People looked at it and said: ‘Yes, that is how I feel about this.’ Trump Baby has mani-fested the mood of the moment.”
There is every possibility that the blimp might follow Mr Trump through his tour of UK making this the most widely publicised social revolt of the new century.
