Trump Wants to Erase Transgender Community

Not to be outdone by DeSantis, on Tuesday, Jan 31, 2023, the 45th President of the United States stood in front of a camera and spoke of committing genocide against his fellow Americans.

Yes, I used the G-word. He is openly calling for ending all Federal support for #trans people Nationwide. Make no mistake; gender affirming care is life saving care. Removing our access to care, and forcibly detransitioning Transgender Americans, will increase the suicide rate of our community dramatically.

He opened by stating: “The left-wing gender insanity being pushed at our children is an act of child abuse. Very simple. Here’s my plan to stop the chemical, physical and emotional mutilation of our youth".

To some, such a statement could be passed off as just another one of 45's rants. He's certainly not afraid of performing them, but this one has dire implications that may not be evident to the average viewer.

He goes on to say, that if he takes office again, "On day one, I will revoke Joe Biden's cruel policies on so-called gender affirming care - ridiculous - a process that includes giving kids puberty blockers, mutating their physical appearance, and ultimately performing surgery on minor children. Can you believe this?"

Pay attention to his wording here. He knows that many of his followers don't understand what being #Transgender is, and uses spin words to vilify providers that provide #genderaffirmingcare. He uses the words "so-called", "ridiculous" and "mutating". His goal is to take advantage of their ignorance on the subject, and make it seem like "The Left" is abusing children (and adults), when in fact this couldn't be further from the truth.

As a powerful counterpoint, in addition to the American Medical Association speaking out against Anti-Transgender measures, the Human Rights Campaign also partnered with many major Health, Education and Child Welfare groups to condemn Republican efforts to ban Trans care for minors.

It should be noted that while there are cases of surgeries being performed on people under 18, such instances are rare. According to the WPATH Standards of Care (easily found in Appendix D), the person must demonstrate the emotional and cognitive maturity required to provide informed consent/assent for the treatment. Additionally, at least 12 months of gender-affirming hormone therapy or longer, if required, to achieve the desired surgical result for gender-affirming procedures.

45 continues: "I will sign a new Executive Order instructing every Federal agency to cease all programs that promote the concepts of sex and gender transition AT ANY AGE. I will then ask Congress to permanently stop Federal taxpayer dollars from being used to promote or pay for these procedures, and pass a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation in all 50 states - it will go very quickly-"

Wow. Note the phrase "at any age". This isn't about protecting kids. This is about erasing the Transgender community as a whole.

"- I will declare that any hospital or healthcare provider that participates in the chemical or physical mutilation of minor youth will no longer meet Federal health and safety standards for Medicaid and Medicare, and will be terminated from the program immediately."

There's that word again, Mutilation. The far Right want people to think that a kid can just walk into a doctor's office and immediately sign up for gender affirming surgery. It doesn't work like that.

His speech continues, but I've put enough of his words to text. It's time for my notes:

Social transitioning starts first; dressing differently, using new pronouns, etc. Once puberty comes along, puberty blockers (the effects of which are safe and completely reversible) can be used to buy more time for kids to continue exploring gender identity. Puberty blockers are used to stop the body from starting to develop sex characteristics, such as breasts, bone shape, body hair, etc. As a Trans woman, I wish I had known about puberty blockers as a kid. My #genderdysphoria would be much lower had my body not changed due to puberty. That is the case for many Trans people.

In time, minors can decide to start #hormonereplacementtherapy in order to allow their bodies to align with their gender identity. HRT comes via informed consent, and has some permanent effects.

As for surgeries, if these are being performed, they are done so against the WPATH standards.

I want to make something abundantly clear about the Transgender community: We just want to live our lives. We just want equal rights. We just want to survive.
