Trump, Obama, GCHQ & "The Kazakh Connection"

Let’s get down to reality. There is little doubt that since he became President Elect, Trump has been and is being investigated by thousands of people working for the media, intelligence agencies and even law enforcement authorities from all over the world. Some of those will be trying or will have succeeded in putting him under some sort of surveillance however tenuous either in cyberspace and/or the real world.
The standard ploy of any intelligence agency is to dress up its activities as if they were those of another organisation (especially in the media or from an unfriendly country’s intelligence apparatus). Trump’s advisers will know that. They will also know that the concept of any President Elect or President of the USA not being under some form of investigation (if only journalistic) or attempted surveillance by foreign intelligence agencies is as farcical as Trump’s seemingly paranoid claims that Obama ordered them.
The problem for Trump and his not so merry men (and women) is that he has a career littered with allegations of wrongdoing, malpractice, fraud, misdemeanours and criminal activities all over the world. To cite but one example, a quick read of an article by a respected British paper (the FT) entitled “Dirty money: Trump and the Kazakh connection” published on 19 October 2016, will give you a good idea of the sort of alleged criminal activities Trump and co may have been involved in. The FT is most unlikely to publish such detailed allegations unless it is on terra firma.
Proof of any one of the major allegations swirling around would probably lead to Trump’s impeachment. What is worrying for Trump and his team is that these allegations about his involvement in Kazakhstan are just a few of the many being investigated. After all, he is still involved in dozens of unsavoury lawsuits in the USA alone, many of which allege criminal activity by those under his command. He has already settled quite a few nasty ones with cash (ie out of court settlements). Imagine what will happen when Putin decides to pass his dossier on Trump to WikiSpooks or WikiLeaks or some other well-meaning (or self-interested and interfering) philanthropic organisation.
No wonder Trump appears to be and probably is paranoid. The Kazakh connection may well be the one that leads to his impeachment because of his alleged ties with Alfa-bank. Interestingly, Alfa-bank is a Russian bank based in Moscow which is apparently not affected by US or other sanctions. Albeit not cited in the Kazakh connection article, it has had an active presence in Almaty since 1994 and allegedly has ties with the Trumps.

7 年Bill I read your article and found it interesting it focuses on transparency and accountability however it's worth noting many people in Europe and America are now willing to overlook lendership ethics because Trump is pushing their agenda.

7 年Bill Fairclough, You seem to be somewhat over-responding Bill. People talk to people internationally, all of the time. It underpins global commerce. The US has had a string of career politicians, and political activists , tightly holding the levers of power, with both hands. Now there is a President who comes from a background of international trade, and cutting a deal whereby both parties can gain something from the transaction, whilst giving something of value in return. Yes, he is probably stepping on more than a few toes at the State Department, but he can say things to other leaders, that the drones at State could never dare mention. Cut the man some slack. Judge him by what he achieves, and not by how he achieves it.

7 年Yesterday’s astonishing hearing on Capitol Hill was a momentous historical event in the history of not only the USA but the world. The ramifications of the FBI/NSA disclosures about the investigations into Trump and Russian interference in the US election combined with the denials of any Obama and/or GCHQ investigations as alleged by Trump will reverberate for years. The implications are incalculable at present, but at best, in all probability Trump will become a lame duck President. Onlookers from outside (and inside) the USA are staggered by all of this including why the FBI failed to say in July 2016 that the Trump investigation had started before the election process had finished bearing in mind the FBI announced its investigation into Hillary Clinton during the election. No doubt the FBI have very good reasons for all that but from a non-partisan perspective it looks very odd in hindsight. Although this investigation may be mainly focused on "interference" with the USA's democratic process it will still have to cover Trump's business dealings in Russia and ex-Soviet bloc countries like Kazakhstan as well as more generically the goings on of some of Trump's "business mates" (eg Robert Mercer) and associates (eg Alfa Bank in Moscow and Almaty). However, the FBI are not the only ones investigating Trump and his not so merry men and women. There are unquestionably many other serious ongoing investigations all over the world for all sorts of reasons: for example, what will his enemies release to Wikileaks one might ask? Nevertheless, some of these investigations are "independent" and will be more focused on Trump himself and his corporate activities (eg https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/new-york-state-hires-top-corruption-prosecutor-to-investigate-donald-trump-eric-schneiderman-howard-a7639631.html... or more specifically https://fairesansdire.org/Trump-Obama-GCHQ-and-the-Kazakh-Connection ). Which one will derail him is anyone's guess but the odds at most global bookmakers of Trump's impeachment are now circa 50/50. The $64 question is when will Putin decide to release what information he has access to (eg from hacking other ongoing investigations) which can be proven to be federal crimes under US law.

7 年President Trump has done business all over the world and I'm sure he has money spread out everywhere but that doesn't mean he has done anything unethical or illegal. I guess you are one of Hilary's and Obama's people. It seems you're quick to be the pot calling the kettle black! Obviously you have some grievance against President Trump not because he is because is a successful business man or maybe you wanted Hilary Clinton to be the next President, now there's a real stand up lady, in fact why don't we send her over to the U.K. and let her destroy things over there just like she destroyed things over here when she was Secretary Of State. Treason, Espionage and Failure to act in the death of a sitting U.S. Ambassador, there's your candidate of choice Hilary Clinton. Why don't you keep on watching the Clinton News Network (CNN) and leave this page to Law Enforcement officials who have real problems in the real world instead of your dreamed up conspiracy theories!
