You might disagree because you're not his audience but to his segment, Trump has loyal followers than all other GOP candidates.
Trump with his business background is more of a strategist than other candidates in the current presidential race to the White House. Love him or hate him, this man knows how to save his Advertising budget and get his message across.
You and I and many others disagree with many of his views but his followers follow him as a " Brand" and they are loyal followers. Is Trump making money while running for president? I think he's making more money than all other candidates, because of his controversy stand and issues that concern the average American.
The media today demands his stories not the other way around. Trump doesn't own any solid plan, he's all over the place but he's positioning of " Making America Great" resonates with most. Is Trump presidential brand? Absolutely! To his audience even if we all disagree with him. Trump is able to hide his weakness much better than other candidates but he's also able to distract both the public and media from speaking on issues that he fails to engage with.
Trump knows his opponents strength
Most GOP running for president understand the political nature, they are current senators and governors unlike Trump and Carson. For Trump to get over his weakness he must raise issues that are controversial to society to overshadow the real issues that politicians cover in their campaigns. This positions him as " fixing America's issue" and puts him far from his competitors.
Controversy
Trump has hit the lowest level by calling on every race a demeaning name. This made the media constantly speak of him and his stories which made people in social media discuss him very frequently. He's name is constantly mentioned more than those that spent twice as much on their advertising just to get noticed. Trump is getting a free ride, smart strategist.
Focus
Trump is very focused, everybody knows the subjects he continuously carry, they are very relevant to most American's. on the other hand are Jeb's and Cruz heart felt issues remembered daily by most Americans ? Nope, most find the same values are shared by most candidates, someone is coming for a change in the GOP platform.
Simple language
D. Trump speaks the simple language that majority of voters understand, this makes him more appealing and well understood.
Appears genuine and delivers
Delivers the core message that appeals to his segment of audience which are around the Bible Belt states.
Trump knows very well that he owns a slim chance of being the next president of the United States, but he will be remembered in history. If things go wrong with the next president on issues that Trumped touched, Trump will build his fortune based on how the public will eventually perceive him. This is the Trump Brand as it unfolds into the future, Trump needs the bible states as loyal followers to the Trump Brand to make his next fortune.

6 年Baaghil, your grasp of the emotionality of branding is unparalleled, because you understand that it is not such an advertising tool, or even just an identifier, you know that it creates deep roots into it's followers' humanity, a felt personal connection. But I do believe that a personality-based brand, like Trump's, ultimately needs to be balanced with meaning, or it will devour itself. Two years into the Trumpocracy and we can see that a President may be able to brand, and accelerate himself rapidly and powerfully, but when that brand is based on two things that have no depth: hatred, and success-for-it's-own-sake, there is nothing of emotional value to bind it together substantively. Even if Trump and his followers took over the world, heaven forbid, it would inevitably consume itself in a raging explosion of hatred and my-success-versus-your-success. But yes, a brand worthy of study for it's willingness to use anything that pulls on the strings of fear and hate and keeps attention away from the cycle of tragic emptiness - the infernal horror - at it's center.?
