Trump Leads in Texas, according to our latest polling data.

Crosswind's most recent Texas Pulse statewide survey, conducted prior to the second GOP debate, showed Trump leading among likely GOP voters in Texas, over Ben Carson, Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush.
I suspect those numbers will change following last night's performance.
Trump looked completely out of sorts, in my opinion, and appears to be using the Republican debate platform to further a reality TV show career. Carly Fiorini, on the other hand, displayed grit, passion and smarts, not to mention style with her cool blue dress against a sea of angry red ties.
It'll be interesting to see how things change between now and January or February when voters actually have to begin making decisions. For now, I think the numbers below really mean voters haven't been paying attention, except via headlines. And The Donald has masterfully generated plenty of those.
Donald Trump is leading the field of presidential candidates with 26 percent followed by Ben Carson at 19 percent. Texas' own Senator Ted Cruz is third at 15 percent and Jeb Bush is fourth at 9 percent.
The Texas Pulse survey is a periodic exploration by Crosswind of the views and attitudes of Texans on various issues. This week's survey of 477 likely GOP voters was conducted Sep. 11-14, 2015.
The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points. A 2014 Texas Pulse survey of the Texas governor and lieutenant governors races, which accurately predicted the margin of both races, was recognized by the Houston Chronicle as the most accurate poll in the race measured against final results.
The Texas Pulse also tested key issues of interest to Republican voters and found that immigration topped the list, with 50 percent of Republican voters identifying it as their biggest concern.

9 年I watched the debate and think that Trump will continue to hold a lead. I think the reason people are supporting Trump is because they are so frustrated with the folks who have been in elected office. They want someone who will really go in there and fight for them. Someone who will take a sledge hammer and clean out the mess that they currently see all around them. I don't think they care whether the person doing it is polite or politically correct while they're doing it. Our next President will need to be someone who will go in and use their Executive Authority to undue as much of the policies put in place by Obama as possible. Congress continues to remain in a continual state of gridlock and does not show any signs of being able to change that. Trump will surround himself with the expertise necessary to govern. There are many excellent choices for VP who can add policy expertise. He could put together the team necessary to help pull this country out of the mess it's in. There is too much money and special interest involved in our government now on all sides. I'm sure the special interest on all sides of the political parties will do everything they can to defeat Trump. It's obvious in how the media is covering the debates that they will do anything to make him look bad. If Trump does not continue to make it to the end, he has at least made the people in office look and listen to the voices of the frustrated working people of this country.

9 年Nicely done, though even with last nights debate I'm not sure that things will change in terms of Trump's support which currently seems to be motivated by sound bites and headlines. It will be a couple of months before the general public starts to focus on the details. In addition to Fiorini doing well last night I think both Cruz and Rubio may have upped their game and maybe their numbers. Thanks for sharing this.
