“Can you help me?” my wife asked as I got home.

“What’s wrong?”

"None of the laundry's power outlets is working.”

"Sure. Let me check it out," I said.

My wife knows I have zero handyman skills, but I was willing to try.

"What could be wrong?" I asked. "The lights are working fine. Maybe the device you're trying to plug in is not working.”

I quickly got my wife's hairdryer and plugged it in. “Nothing,” I said. “Maybe it’s a tripped the breaker," I told her while walking out to check the main breaker box.

“Got it?” she said anxiously.

“Nothing! Everything seems to be working fine," I said. "I don't know what's wrong. Call the electrician."

A few hours later the electrician arrived.

As soon as he saw the problem, he immediately walked out the garage, found a GFCI outlet in the back wall of the laundry, clicked the RESET button and said, "Done. You can test it now."

"It works!" my wife said with a big smile.

Meanwhile … I stood there feeling like a fool. I mean, it took this guy TWO MINUTES to solve the problem!

"How much do I owe you?" I asked.

"$100 dollars," he said.

"What? One hundred dollars for clicking the reset button?" I asked.

"Sir," he respectfully answered, "I charged you $1 for clicking the RESET button, and $99 to find the solution."
