When I was 12 years old, I finished primary school education in November of that year. I had to wait till February for the National examination (Kenya Certificate of Primary Education) be marked and allocations to high schools to be done, in-order to start high school. This was going to be longest time I would be home bound since I started going to school at the age of five years.
I was not one to stay idle and immediately went to my Baba with a plan. I told him that I should be engaged in an activity I am passionate about. I said, "Now you know an idle mind is the devils' workshop." He agreed. That is when I laid out my plan. I told him I want to become a fashion designer so I need to begin to build my skill set. Yes, he did think it was too much :-) Nonetheless, my Baba supported me both with his blessing and finances. I ended up going to a neighbor of ours who ran a design school in her family home within the neighborhood. I shall speak on that experience soon. February came along and I went to high school. After high school I wanted to go to the famous Evelyn College of Design. I was My Baba was like, "No! You need to go to university." I did and thus begun my career in Psychology (Which I wanted to do since I was 8 years old.) I was cool with it and to soothe my raging design spirit I still design my own clothes to date.
With the onset of rabbit husbandry, it has been transformational to lead the discovery and exploitation of this business' emergent offerings. This project begun as a service pet resource. Then morphed to be a business which supports recovery and provides income. We are now tanning rabbit skin and fur. The end product of the rabbit leather on and off fur now presents an opportunity for design and creativity.
I have come full circle. I am soooooo excited to design and create at large. Here is what I now know.
I am in order to want to explore more than one of my talents and skills.
The building and growing of my talents and skills can be grown over time, over different times in my life. They are like tributaries.
It is all preparation. Just like tributaries, when they have made their way and are fully loaded, they pour into the ocean of me at the necessary time in my life.
