THE TRUE MEANING OF #BLESSINGS!

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE SERENDIPITY SAPPHIRE?

Ephesians 1:3"Praise be to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessings in Christ".

"Only God is truly great. The rest of us should be content to simply fulfill the duties with which He has blessed us".

Workers were digging a well in a man's backyard when they came upon a 2.5 million Carrat Sapphire Cluster.

The cluster, now named " Serendipity Sapphire" is a thirty-nine inches long and twenty-eight inches wide. It was found in #Ratnapura , a city in Sri Lanka known as the " The city of gems".

Ironically, it was discovered in the yard of a #gem trader in the city. Experts have valued it at close to $US100 million.

The Oxford dictionary says #Serendipity is the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

Me as a Pastor and a #christian , l will describe Serendipity as unexpected BLESSINGS or FAVOR!

Blessing is a special favor, mercy, or benefit. A favor or gift bestowed by #God , thereby bringing happiness or the invoking of God's favor upon a person.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT BLESSING?

In the #Bible , there are several words that are usually translated as "blessing" or "bless". The Hebrew word most often translated bless is #barak , which can mean praise, congratulation, or salute.

Genesis 1.22 is the first occurrence, when God blessed the sea creatures and birds, telling them to be fruitful and multiply in the earth.

When God called Abram to go to the Promised Land in Genesis 12.1-3, He promised to bless him, make his name great, and through him, to bless all the families of the earth.

In the Bible God is not the only one who pronounces blessings. When Rebecca left her family to become Isaac's wife according to Genesis 24:60, her family blessed her by saying, "May you Increase to thousands upon thousands ; may your offspring possess the gates of their enemies".

When Isaac was ready to die, he pronounced this blessing on his son Jacob in Gen 27:28-29" May God give you of heaven's dew and of earth's richness--an abundance of grain and new wine. May nations serve you and people bow down to you. Be Lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed". RECEIVE THIS BLESSING IN THE NAME OF JESUS!

In the New Testament, there are two primary Greek words translated as "blessings". These words are #Makarios and #Eulogeo ".

Makarios carries the meaning of #happiness and Eulogeo focuses more on good words or the good report that others give of someone and describes the blessing that others give of someone.

Eulogeo is the word where we get our English word "eulogy" in which we speak well of one who has passed away.

Let us not only praised the dead. Let us cultivate the habit of my friend who called me from the Philippines this morning just to say, "Pastor l love you. You are anointed. Continue blessing people with the word of God. I always watch your sermon videos. Be encouraged. God is with you".

The greatest blessing we can ever receive while we live on this earth is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. A relationship with Jesus Christ must assure you that He PAID for your sin, shame, pain, past mistakes, rejection or loneliness, your slavery to SIN and spiritual death or eternal separation from God when you die.

As l conclude, can you think about all the ways in which God has blessed you? If you don't know you are blessed kindly remember all the people God uses to do some things for you occasionally that you don't deserve or didn't work for. Your family and all the good people you can call friends are all part of God's blessing. Don't Evaluate your blessings only in terms of material THINGS!

John 1:16" From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another".
