True Love: The New Culture For Society
It's been said by my mentor that "love doesn't get the job done", well I agree and disagree. I agree in that what he and mostly everyone references when talking about love is nothing more than the easily manipulated emotion of being "in love". And as we all know, emotions come and go quickly.
True Love is seven observable character traits that show that true love exists within you. Let me clarify something before going forward. Love is the same in all it's expression, i.e. romantic, friendships, family, etc, what changes is the context and intent.
Here is a quick summary of what those traits are so you can begin evaluating yourself.
1) Discipline - discipline doesn't just mean doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, whether you feel like it or not. It also means having the self-control to not waste time or do anything that is not aligned towards your goal. Discipline and self'control are mainly affected by being in control of your emotions. In other words, maturity.
2) Useful - this actually speaks about being useful in the lives of others. Whether that means listening, counseling, providing value added content, etc. There are a million and one ways to be useful in peoples lives. True Love Culture is about caring for eachother as we do for ourselves.
3) Supportive - it's no secret that life hits hard and we take beatings from society, media, and people. It's crucial that everyone who interacts with you understand that they can always find a word of encouragment. A place where they can be open about thoughts and concerns. But True Love doesn't tolerate excuses either.
4) Loyal - this has to do with remaining true to the good intent for human kind in general. As well as for those specifically that you work with or that you intereact with. Loyalty means safguarding and defending the persons name or image. It means you care more about their well being because as a result ,you're wellbeing will be taken care of.
5) Perseverance - Speaks about the true value at which you hold the relationships and people. In life, business and relationships, problems happen, people fail and sometimes people even make an effort to destoy what you've worked for. Perseverance not only talks about how much you actually value the relationship and allows you to address things directly.
6) Unconditional - for too many people this is one of the hardest concepts to understand. Being unconditional doesn't mean you agree or support any wrong act they've done. But it builds an open environment where people are safe to express their concerns, doubts and errors
7) Transparency - Yes, transparency is part of the True Love Culture. Here is why, even the greatest amibition within true love culture by definition, does not have illwill towards mankind and as such has no need to keep secrets. Open communication is essential in any situation where humans are involved.
I hope this was useful. It's been something that has really made an impact on my life and hope it will yours.
