A True Leader Brings People Together

It doesn't matter if you are running a company with hundreds of thousands of people or want to lead a small community or want to inspire your kids and family or want to lead a country.

A true leader, needs to bring people together. Someone who divides people, can never be a true leader.

That is why it is so important for any leader to understand people and be able to connect with them on a deeper level.

I work with many companies who want to develop their next line of leaders and mentor future CEOs.

And what I notice is many of these people are excellent at their roles. So they might be excellent at technology or finance, but where they struggle and lack is their ability to connect with people on a deeper level.

They get caught up in a whirlwind of emotions, which stops them from having inner calm.

And leadership is largely about the energy you have within you and how you project it outward. People can sense if your thoughts, words and actions are in complete harmony.

The moment they sense a disconnect, you say one think, but do another - you will lose a heart to heart bond with your people.

Let us say you are the President of your country and you speak about how you want to bring in more jobs to people by encouraging investments into industry.

And at the same time you start raising taxes for companies and making it difficult for new businesses to start by increasing paper work.

This is a complete disconnect between what you say and what you do. People will sense it and eventually you will lose support.

Or you are the CEO who speaks about how your company loves the environment, but at the same time you still use old technology that pollutes lakes and rivers.

Your dump your waste into the oceans.

Again, people will see this and you will lose support.

Or you are the CHRO who speaks about how your company has a great work culture and how you have received several awards for being a great place to work at.

But when it comes to work, you abuse employees, mentally. People are promoted not on the basis of merit, but on the basis of how much they praise you.

While ignoring the ones who are truly efficient and capable.

The best minds will start leaving your company. Remember, the best always have lots of options, no matter what the market is like.

So from now on, start thinking how you can be in harmony with your thoughts, words and actions.

And above all, be what you say you are.

People can sense it and once you do this, you will realize immense leadership potential within you.
