True Journalists Can Resonate With These Characters
Being a true journalist means doing whatever it takes to deliver unbiased news to the readers. Sometimes they have to swim in the waters alongside dark creatures of the society. But it's like what I said (or as Captain Steve Rogers said before the Avengers took off on a time traveling journey to save the universe), whatever it takes!"
So here I present you some characters from TV shows, games and movies who radiate off qualities a true journalist should have.
Rustin Cohle From True Detective Season 1
Played by Interstellar star Matthew McConaughey, Rust Cohle is among the single-most likable characters in True Detective according to Screen Rant, an entertainment news provider. His life philosophy is simple as it can be perceived by a quote he tells Marty, his partner in Louisiana State Police department.
He says:
World needs bad men. We keep the other bad men from the door.
We can easily interpret what Rust is trying to put there. Being innocent in this barbaric world only gets you killed (metaphorically, but you know what I mean). It's like Chanakya, counselor and advisor to Chandragupta Maurya, puts it, "Straight trees are cut first and honest people are screwed first."
A journalist must not be too honest, neither he/she should be biased. They may encounter people who might be hiding something appalling. This is where they may require to show some cunningness?to unravel things.
Captain John Price From Call of Duty Modern Warfare
Captain John Price from Call of Duty franchise stays rent-free in lockers of every gamer's heart. Barry Sloane, an English actor, took the character to new heights in Modern Warfare's 2019 reboot. His intellectual but rugged personality is hard to miss in the game.

In a cutscene just before he and Sgt. Kyle Garrick aka Gaz, played by English actor Elliot Knight, are off to capture Hadir Karim, a supporting character in game, Gaz questions the ethics of operations in Russian territory. To this, Price answers:
End of the day, somebody has to make the enemy scared of the dark.?We get dirty, and the world stays clean.?That's the mission.
Taking this into the account, a journalist must radiate kind of personality that anyone thinking about engaging with them, they should think twice about their approach. However, such personality has its perils. Gary Webb, an investigative journalist, found himself in a troublesome scenario after he did the story about the "Dark Alliance ."
The Ancient One From Marvel's Doctor Strange
The Ancient One played by Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton is undoubtedly among the most charismatic characters in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She's also one of the strongest characters in the MCU. She mentored Doctor Stephen Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the movie and comic books.
However, despite being the wisest person, the Sorcerer Supreme holds a dark secret. During the movie it is revealed she uses Dark Dimension, a hostile dimension in the Marvel multiverse, to harness power she possesses. She later reveals the reason to get into such act to Stephen Strange.
She confesses:
I hated drawing power from the dark dimension but as you well know, sometimes one must break the rules in order to serve the greater good.
In journalism, a journalist may need to join hands with evil forces to keep the evil at bay. This may bring them some power they need to accomplish a task. Nonetheless, as historian John Acton puts it, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
Journalism is considered among the pillars of a democracy. A true journalist must stick to fair practices. People rely on journalists for unbiased information, there are already enough bad actors crawling the society to deceit them.
