While on the plane home from Denver last week I decided to watch the movie The Greatest Showman with Hugh Jackman.
It was not what I was expecting at all but I was blown away by the movie.
I had no idea that I was settling into a musical which I am not typically drawn to.
That said... it is a movie that was made for the entrepreneur or spouse of an entrepreneur to see.
The movie is a semi-true story of the rise of PT Barnum of Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus.
It explores the defining moment of when an entrepreneur is born, the struggle to make it in the face of opposition, following the dream even when no one else sees it yet, the rise to greatness, the toll on our family, the struggle to stay on top, the politics of a growing company, the devastating cost of great risk, dealing with those who want and are trying to see you fail, and a LOT of other topics that really hit close to home.
I found myself actually getting a little misty eyed at some parts. Probably because of the cabin pressure. That's a thing right? Cabin pressure eye leakage?
But as business owners and entrepreneurs that put it all on the line for a special life and a special type of freedom others won't and can't understand... it was a masterpiece.
If you are looking for something to watch one of these nights I promise you I have not steered you wrong.
The movie actually made this wild life we chose feel normal for a second.
It explained our life better than I could ever explain it myself.
Check it out.
