True Empowerment
What is empowerment? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
The act or action of empowering someone or something??
The state of being empowered to do something
Cambridge Dictionary says:?
The process of gaining freedom and power to do what you want or to control what happens to you
These definitions sound great but how??
How do we feel truly empowered to do something or to take action??
How can I feel free and powerful?
Here are some ways we can feel more empowered, inspired, and hopeful.
Strength - knowing and using my strengths helps me to feel a sense of power. What are your strengths? Most of us know our weaknesses and can give a full list of them but what about your strengths? If you are unsure, you can take a personality test or ask your friends or co-workers to let you know what strengths they notice. Think about what skills/gifts come naturally or easily for you. Use your strengths both professionally and personally.
Control - wouldn't it be empowering to only work on what you have control over and stop wasting time on things you can't control? We can control ourselves and how we react or respond. We can control who we spend our free time with and what we do with our free time. Our mindset is in our control which means our beliefs, habits, and patterns. We are in control of what we digest, not just food/drink but what we read, watch, and spend time doing. If you can't control it, let it go.
Acceptance -If you can't control situations in your life, then acceptance is what gives you back your power. Accept what you can't control or change. Acceptance doesn't mean giving up or giving in; it means taking a pause, processing the situation, forming clarity, and then you can make a choice based on focus and self-awareness.
Empowerment feels a little bit like self-care. When I take care of myself, make myself a priority, learn my triggers and ways to self-soothe, say no to what doesn't serve me, and say yes to myself by setting boundaries and limitations, I feel empowered.?

Empowerment is about sharing - it's taking all the lessons you have learned and sharing them with others. Your stories of trauma or tough situations can help someone turn their situation around, let them feel less alone, and allow space to be vulnerable. Sharing stories of hope helps us to inspire and empower others.
Every time you turn a setback into an advantage, you feel empowered - we know, as humans, we will make mistakes and have setbacks. If you use them as teachable, learnable moments and make changes, you will feel empowered.
I feel empowered and inspired when I see acts of courage- when one of my clients takes their first steps after a serious illness/injury.
When one of my clients shares their personal stories, I see their vulnerability and bravery.
When I see someone I care about have success.
When I see a client have a breakthrough.
Hearing the underdog's story of surviving and thriving.
Empowerment can be found in every act of kindness, all stories filled with hope and love.?
