Truck'd Up! A message from the showrunner.
Hi.?
I Directed and co - developed the show Truck’d Up!?for Rooster Teeth.
These are the people who worked on it:?
Andrew Rosas : Co - developed the show with me. He punched up anything that was written for the show. If it’s written and it’s funny it’s because of Andrew.?
André Ouellette: One of the best motion graphics artists working right now. André is not only intuitive with aesthetics but also is a master translator of my bizarre notes.?
Armando Torres: This is his first story producer credit, but you wouldn’t know it. This dude can whip up a beat or a bit in like a minute. Maybe one of the smartest people I know.?
Chad James: Is doing all the Meta and titling and programming stuff for this show. If your eyeballs see this show it’s because Chad optimized it that way. A machine. A very friendly machine.?
Cody Graham: Lead assistant editor. One of the most patient and punny people I know. Cody leads the assistant editorial team as they’ve sifted through 6 TBs of footage to find solid bits and, “funny jokes.” Thank you Cody.?
Devin Finn: As for me and my house we stan a social media king. Dude has bits for days, and keeps people energized on camera. Efficient. Funny. Also is in charge of maximizing eyeballs for this show specifically. If you saw something about the show posted on socials it’s because of Dev.?
Maxie Shepard: Maxie is one of the best joke writers I know. She and Dev came up with so many different social pieces for this show that are going to roll out throughout every episode all season, most excellent.?
Eric Baudour : Understands the assignment wholesale. If I’m coming to him for advice: knows what to say. If he’s on camera: knows what’s going on. A person who is able to see the entire picture zoomed out without being overwhelmed by it.?
Dan Hirons: Post Supervisor. A keystone is the stone at the top of the arch that keeps the archway balanced, and keeps it from tumbling to just a pile of rocks. Dan is a keystone. He’s a great listener, an incredible problem solver, and a kind dude.?
Gabrielle Martinez: One of the editors on this show. She is the most organized person I may have ever met and her and Kyle have done a ton of heavy lifting to get rough cuts feeling like fine cuts. A creative engineer of the highest caliber.?
Hector Gonzales: Equipment was managed on this show. We had some big asks and a ton of cameras, and Hector made sure we were equipped. Also just very nice.?
Kyle Sweeney: Another editor. Kyle was like the first person assigned to this show. When Dan asked who I wanted the first name out of my mouth was Kyle’s. A comedian to his core with an incredible bedside manner.?
Sarah Deuel: The closer. A surgeon. A story producer and an editor on this show. Sarah takes the episodes across the finish line, polishing and finesse-ing moments from the rough and fine cuts. Her attention to detail coupled with her attention to story are unrivaled.?
Kody Gibson: Added recently as an editor. I’ve worked with Kody on a ton of other projects and he’s just great. I know something is actually funny when Kody says, “this show is funny.” He said that about this show.
Marcus LaPorte: Production Designer. Art God. He got us the food team, designed the set, was printing fresh crispy directions that we should make into a cookbook. Dude is a ride or die for me, and I was so happy to work with him again on this show.?
Erika Slay: I love Erika’s choices. Though it was just RT merch and aprons, the combination, patterns,? and fits were just perfect and fitting for each subject on screen.??
Christian Oliveira : An Assistant Editor who’s new to working with RT, but has been on top of it the whole time. I’m excited to work with him again, and appreciate him digging through all this footage.?
Steven Stover: An Assistant Editor. Steven started just a couple of weeks ago, his assemblies are what is keeping this project on track, a foundational support and I’m super grateful for his hard work and for being on the project.?
Jake Camitta did production sound BUT ALSO did post production sound. So he KNEW that the 12 people all talking at once on camera were going to be his problem in the booth later. One of the most patient and practical people I know. Happy to call him a friend.?
Mike Pirtle: The other half of the on set sound duo. Mike has an incredible attitude and didn’t bat an eye when I asked to mic 12 people who would be non stop talking the whole time.?
Jessie Wilkinson: An AE who has done a few projects with me. Jessie is excellent at rolling with the punches and staying super level headed.?
Jordan Zager: First time working with Jordan, and it won’t be the last. As an editor, He’s doing some great work with Armando on 103 and with me on 105 that I’m stoked for everyone to see. Thanks for being here.?
Khari Dixon: Khari was our post intern this semester and I hope he learned as much as he helped because he was super helpful and kind, and I hope he gets a dope post job after graduating.?
Marla Quintana: One of the all time best producers I will ever get to work with. I’ve known Marla a long time, and she always goes above and beyond. Good at pep talks, check ins, and problem solving. She makes one of the hardest jobs look easy.?
Nathan Bracher: Is the sweetest dude and a BEAST of an editor. He cut the super complicated trailer for Truck’d Up with only raw footage of all the other episodes and a rough cut of 101. Incredible timing and patience for revisions, Nathan has immaculate vibes.?
Will Deloney: Is a friend and a mentor and was the bedrock of this show. A great director in his own right, the fact that he agreed to story produce on this show felt like a big favor to me.?
Christine Hagen : Is as nice as she is down. She’s a great coordinator and a kind person, and will go the distance to make sure the task at hand is completed to the absolute limit of our resources. This show would not have been possible without her. Two months before the shoot I asked Christine if we could include pronouns on the call sheet, and then I forgot I had asked. D1 CS had pronouns on it.?

Blake Stowe: 1st AD. I used to AD a lot and I’m super picky about who AD’s when I’m directing because I want someone who can move things forward while still treating people with kindness. Blake is an amazing AD and person, and I hope I get to work with him again someday.?
Jamal Gamble: Production Assistant. Jamal did it all. Being a PA on a food show has it’s own specific challenges, and if there was a table to move, pepper to put away, or the truck needed to be wiped down Jamal was always there.?
Tammy Bowers: Set medic. Tammy brought me so much peace of mind throughout production. She was a calming voice amid the chaos and would always assure me that things were safe, and people were fine.?
Thomas Schneider : Art Director. Thomas is a joy to be around, dude is at the ready with a solution and a smile. He’s in my phone as THOMAS ART - HIRE.?
Scott Duncan: Food Team. Not only did Scotty design the recipes but he also made sure the trucks were stocked with what the teams needed to cook, and that the trucks worked. Usually Scotty does catering for bigger shows, so this was an entire curve ball that Scotty ran with.?
Shane Gordon: Director of Photography and A cam op.? Shane’s a fun mix of calm, direct, knowledgeable, and never ending stamina. Dude was carrying a camera for most of the shoot, managing a team of 10, and twelve cameras and he never lost his cool.
Ray Pacheco: B cam op / Story producer. Ray shoots and directs his own stuff and those trucks were so small that I had to rely on him to be a one man band not only shooting, but also feeding subjects story beats. Ray helped strengthen the camera syntax I built for this show, and I trusted him to do so. Hire Ray.?
Kyle Young : C cam Op. Kyle was down to clown, you could put this dude anywhere and he knew what to cover. Intuitive, funny, good at this job.?
Justin Lopez :? D Camp Op. Justin’s got a great eye for framing, and was usually our wide shots in studio. He’s done a bunch of work with RT and recently shot a lot of Extra Life. He was just always ready to go, and happy to be there.?
Mike Lloyd : AC for? for A and B cameras and? go pros. Mike and Scot were in charge of something like 12 cameras across 2 locations plus making sure that all 6TB of footage got to Elizabeth the DIT. I always wanted to be an AC but couldn’t because I drop so many things. I didn’t see Mike drop a single thing!?
Scot Young : AC for C and D cameras and go pros. Scot ALSO didn’t drop anything! I’m blown away by how organized one has to be to be an A/C and Scot just had it on lock the whole time. Very grateful to him.?
Cody “Hot hands” Hawkins: Gaffer. On day 1 we were hurrying to get interviews and I wanted to shoot outside by the truck. I asked Shane for some bounce and negative fill and as I walked up to the shot, Cody had already set it up. ALSO that shot where Eric reveals the truck was cheated, Cody matched the lighting so well you can’t tell.?
Erin Klarer: Hair and Makeup. Erin made everyone look great even though the cast was in a cramped, smelly, sweaty truck. Everyone was always dewey but never sweaty. Also my lips got real chapped and she wasn’t stingy with the lip balm. Erin’s dope.
Logan Bryan : Stills. DID YOU SEE THOSE STILLS YET. SO CRUNCHY, SO COOL. I have no idea how he got those photos. Usually you have to pause for set photogs but he was like in and OUT, a master of timing!?
Michele Sontag: Designer. Designed our immaculate logo and was patient with my many revisions. One of my favorite things in pre pro was getting to show her the title card André made, and also getting to use the font she chose for our deck.?
George Panga: Designed the shows landing page, and made sure that it reflected the show we made. George is one of those co-workers where you’re like glad to pass them in the hall and it’s like “oh, that’s right people like George work here. Nice”?
Elizabeth Patrick: DIT. We gave her 6 TB of footage and it was all neatly cataloged and organized. Like I get that’s what DITs do but MAN. Good Job!?
Wes Ellis: Associate Creative Director Marketing. Wes was into this show and came up with that The Bear style promo that him and Andrew wrote and Chris shot. The whole time I felt cool cuz Wes thought the show was cool.?
Matt Hullum: CCO. Matt brought 5 Mc Ribs to an editing session one time. It was just me and him and Sarah in a tiny edit bay. I think it still smells like Mc Rib… OH, he also greenlit the show and is very holistic and thoughtful with his approach to leading. Gives good notes.?
I loved working with this cast as well, most are good friends, mentors, and great co workers, and I think they know how I feel about them. In lieu of giving them “mad ups” I’m gonna give you things to watch for on the show:?
Barb: Watch for Barb’s frying and communication skills. It’s like she never left the Burger King in the movie theater.?
BK: Reactions. BK has some of the funniest reactions in group shots and is on point for interview one liners.?
Chris Demaris: ver·i·si·mil·i·tude. He takes, “commit to the bit” to a whole nother level.?
Fiona Nova: Fiona has the best moments of The Office Style looking at the camera.?
John Holland: Watch him cook. It’s like watching someone paint a picture.?
Jordan Cwierz: Zingy One liners. All day.?
Kayla: Kayla has a ton of under her breath lines that murder me every time. There’s one in episode 101 where she says “we didn’t learn shit.” That delivery kills me.?
Michael Jones: When he throws up, we all throw up.?
Nick Schwartz: You’ll never guess who did the VO for character intros in 101.?
Trevor Collins: Physical comedy. Trevor does a lot of stuff specifically with this like fingers together hand motion that reinforces what he’s saying in a particularly funny way.?
