Good morning. Trouble is brewing in the education sector as schools protest the passage of a bill proposing to ban the longstanding "no permit, no exam" policy. Many school associations have warned that if timely collection of tuition is impaired, then private schools might delay the wages of their staff, a grim prospect as gasoline prices once again rose by 55 cents per liter.
A global payments company called Parallax recently secured a rare $4.5-million funding from key investors. Parallax primarily caters to the dollar-earning freelancer, taking advantage of the 208% growth in freelance revenue in the country from 2019 to 2020. The Energy Regulatory Commission has approved the termination of power supply deals between distributor Meralco and subsidiaries of conglomerate San Miguel Corp. The deal was supposed to provide a crucial supply of 1,800 megawatts to consumers. Meanwhile, President Marcos approved P270-billion worth of key projects for the tourism and healthcare sectors.
