Trolling Through the Wheat to Get to the Chaff! Building Product Compliance with the NCC

The Passive Fire Protection Industry has been identified as a significant area for Non-compliance in Australia.

As a Designer, Builder, Fire Engineer, Building Surveyor or Building Certifier, are you becoming overwhelmed and frustrated having to troll through vast amounts of emails, Glossy Data Sheets, Technical Installation Manuals, from manufactures to ensure their claims for the performance of their product/products/systems meet the Compliance Requirements of the BCA (NCC) & all Australian Standards and Test Methods referenced within it?

When it comes to an FRL of a product/system, the NCC states that an FRL must be determined in a Report from a NATA Accredited Testing Laboratory. These Reports may be in the form of a Test Report an Assessment Report or a Regulatory Information Report/Short Form Assessment Report. The reports must contain, the full construction details of the system, FRL achieved, and the specific applications for which it can be used.

A Certificate of Test or a Test Certificate or a Codemark Certificate is NOT Evidence of Suitability for determination of an FRL and CANNOT be used to meet the Compliance Requirements of the NCC for either the Design or Sign off on a Project.

Let us take away the stress, we can audit the documentation given to you, inform you of the differences between the performance claims in the advertising materials and the actual Compliance Data, if any. We can then let you know exactly what applications the products/systems can be used in and advise you of where they cannot.
