Trivallis regains its regulatory status with a GREEN fully compliant rating from Welsh Government

Trivallis, the community mutual housing association which manages most of the social housing stock in Rhondda Cynon Taff, has been awarded a GREEN, fully-compliant regulatory judgement by the Welsh Government Housing Regulator, 18 months after it’s status was put under review.

The housing association is one of the largest in Wales, providing homes and support services to 25000 people in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Cardiff Bay.

Last year Trivallis was put under review by the Regulator, who had concerns in relation to tenant services, governance and financial viability. They felt Regulatory intervention was required to address these concerns and meet regulatory standards. An improvement plan was put in place which included independent reviews of leadership and governance at Executive and Board level, as well as immediate improvements to service delivery. The Regulator also requested increased oversight over financial viability and financial management.

Trivallis Chairman, Nick Beckett, said: “I’m delighted to report that following a huge amount of work, the Regulator has not just given us a yellow or amber rating (showing that we partially meet the regulatory standards) but has gone a step further and given us a green rating. This is the highest possible rating, showing that we are fully compliant with the standards and only require routine oversight.

“This result has only been achieved through a lot of hard work by staff and Board members.”

Chief Executive, Duncan Forbes, added: " We know that we're just beginning a long journey. Even though we've worked hard over the past year to lay strong foundations, there's still a lot to do. Our goal is to provide safe, secure, and affordable homes to people who really need them. We also want to make our communities better and support people in RCT to enjoy healthier and happier lives. We're excited about the steps we’re going to take in the months and years ahead to make sure we achieve all of this. I want to express a huge thanks to the staff, Board and involved tenants who made this possible.? I also want to thank the Regulatory Team at Welsh Government for their challenge, support and oversight"
