Triumph Over the Storm

There are several techniques for getting back your calm. Pollsters tell us 80% of folks are struggling with a sense of chaos after recent events. When you have extra anxiety or depression or lean to struggle, some extra technique helps. This exercise combines a few together. Get back to doing what you love. Triumph over the storm.
Breathing
Mindfulness
Physical Touch Equals something called Havening
Add Meditation and Prayer and you have a powerful activity that involves every aspect of Mental/Emotional, Physical, Spiritual applied to your interaction with others and the outside world.
Breathing - Count of four breath in through nose. Count of six breath out through mouth. Increases oxygen to brain and other muscles. Provides tension release for any tight muscles and joints.
Mindfulness - Living one day at a time. Enjoying each moment. Turns off the distractions around you.
Physical Touch - research tells us that physical touch, the warmth of body to body contact is a powerful calmer of emotions. Of course getting a hug or a gentle touch on the shoulder by a friend is powerful. But that also means possible more distraction.
Meditation and Prayer - I like to use this combined technique in meditation and prayer. I might take a scripture or a key phrase or the Serenity Prayer and speak it out loud as I do the exercise.
God grant me the grace to accept with serenity the things I cannot change, the courage to change what needs to be changed, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying each moment, accepting hardship as the pathway to peace, taking the busted up world the way it is not as I would have it, knowing that if I surrender to Your will all things will work out well. That I might be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You in the next.
