Since inception, Bluetooth is being a great success in the consumer market. As per Bluetooth SIG, over 5 billion devices will be shipped by 2022. With the release of the latest Bluetooth 5 and above specifications, it will become ubiquitous in industrial applications. Some of the features that make Bluetooth an indispensable technology in the industrial and IoT domain are,

Long Range

 There is a misconception that the range of Bluetooth is limited around 10 meters. But actually, it can go up to greater than one kilometer by using proper transmission modes.

Mesh Capability 

Bluetooth mesh networking enables many-to-many device communications. It is ideally suited for IoT solutions that require tens, hundreds or thousands of devices to communicate with one another. The latest Bluetooth Specifications allows more than 32K nodes to be provisioned. Even a legacy BLE device also can participate in a mesh network with the help of a proxy enabled node.

Direction Finding

The new direction-finding feature enhances the indoor RTLS services in the devices. This will improve the accuracy and reduce the implementation complexity compared to existing trilateration method.
