Tripian is Disrupting Travel Industry with True Personalization

Tripian initially launched in 2016 as a consumer-facing travel app, equipped with trip planning tools available in only five cities. In mid-2018, the company pivoted to a B2B SaaS model, offering its services to the travel industry. Today, Tripian provides true personalization for travel brands, with content spanning over 300 cities worldwide. We met up with Jeff Kischuk, Founder of Tripian at Collision to learn more about how he’s disrupting travel.

Future-Proofing Education: AI Will Redefine Learning And Teaching

Current education systems are struggling to keep pace with technological advancements, often leaving students underprepared for the demands of the modern workforce. However, AI offers potential to advance a sector. Hessie Jones interviewed educator Kunal Dalal , and Factors Education co-founders 傅方和 and Aman Sahota to dive into the challenges educators when it comes to safety and privacy and the resistance to hopping on the AI bandwagon.

AI offers the potential to streamline administrative tasks and enhance personalizing learning. Dalal advocates for using AI to embed practical skills into curricula and implementing apprenticeship programs to bridge education and employment. Sahota and Fu emphasize AI's role in transforming teaching, advocating for clear processes and oversight to prevent misinformation and aligning AI content with educational standards. They also stress AI's potential in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving from an early age. The shift from AI as an assistant to a collaborative tool is essential.

The pressure on teachers to properly prepare students for the world, as per Dalal, means empowering both educators and parents to integrate AI responsibly both at home and in school. Read more

  • Google's recent hiring of Character.AI's cofounders, Noam Shazeer and Daniel de Freitas, indicates the AI startup landscape appears to be facing challenges due to high operational costs, lack of competitive barriers, talent acquisition by Big Tech, funding sustainability concerns, and profitability issues. These factors suggest a potential consolidation in the industry, with larger tech companies gaining dominance in AI development as startups struggle to maintain their footing and independence.
  • The European Union AI Act came into force on August 1, 2024, establishing the first comprehensive legal framework for AI regulation. The EU AI Act aims to foster responsible artificial intelligence development and deployment in the EU. It introduces a risk-based approach, with phased implementation of key provisions between 2024 and 2026. The Act aims to ensure ethical AI development while positioning Europe as a global leader in AI governance.
  • Jim Covello, Goldman Sachs’s senior stock analyst, warns of an AI bubble, citing immature technology and unjustified high valuations. He believes AI lacks a "killer app" to prove its value and anticipates no significant breakthroughs soon, suggesting the industry may be overbuilding unnecessary solutions. Covello doubts that AI will significantly boost company valuations or economic productivity in the short term.
  • Tesla's Dojo is a custom-built AI supercomputer designed to train the neural networks behind its "Full Self-Driving" technology. Dojo aims to mimic human perception by relying solely on camera data, and requires immense computing power to process and learn from millions of miles of driving footage. Dojo is crucial to Tesla's AI ambitions and could potentially enable full autonomy and robotaxis.
