The Trip of a lifetime?
It was a rainy, windy night when the UHL SLT sat in a restaurant in Leicester, chewing the fat. It was a good night as always but one that would have a surprise for me the next morning.
Waking up I remembered to committing to something a bit out of the ordinary. My fears were realised when my colleague called me to congratulate me on my commitment to the cause. Was I now in too deep? Did I have time to back out??
The commitment in question was to climb Kilimanjaro for the Leicester Hospitals Trust. This trip is now confirmed and we start our climb on the 02nd October 2023. ?
Mount Kilimanjaro?- the African jewel in the Seven Summits crown. The most obvious reason that so many people decide to climb Kilimanjaro is the fact that it's the?highest mountain?in?Africa?(5,895m), and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. The main reason we are climbing is for my colleague’s significant birthday – and to earn a little for Charity. Personally I would have preferred to buy cakes!
The route chosen is 67km and takes around 7 days. Training has started in earnest and new kit required all round. If you can, then please support us in our?quest.
We have created a just giving page which will help us to fund this challenge – please give what you can no matter how small. This will be really appreciated by both the Leicester Hospitals Charities trust and my colleague on her significant birthday.
Thank you

1 年Two of the most driven, competitive and everoslightly insane people I have the pleasure of knowing. I'd say I'll be behind you all the way but you both know I'd really be waiting in a bar somewhere with a well earned G&T - you've totally got this, proud of you both ???
This.sounds.epic! Nuts but epic and for such a great cause which I couldn’t help but donate to! Good luck to you and Liesl Wrigglesworth ????#TheOnlyWayIsUp lol
