Hi Friend & Newsletter Follower,

Hope you’re having a great week.

This summer is kind of a big one for me. Not only am I turning the big 4-0 (how is this even possible??), but my business is turning 10 years old. It’s kind of a summer of big milestones.

It’s got me being a little sappy and nostalgic, thinking of all the good memories over the last decade. There’s been a lot of ups & downs for sure, like:

  • Traveling a lot and working remote. I’ve been able to pack my laptop bag and spend time in places like Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Colombia, and Belize, all while never skipping a beat with my business.
  • Bought my first house DURING Covid. When I tell you that was one of the most stressful experiences of my life, I’m speaking truth.
  • Started Escape the Cubicle and grew LinkedIn to over 100K+ followers. I remember my first few posts and how silly they were. Thankfully they’ve gotten a bit better over time.
  • Spent a lot of time with my mom while she dealing with cancer. She did pass away end of 2021, but I’m so fortunate to never have to ask a boss for days off to spend time with family.

Why am I sharing all of this with you? Well first of all, I consider you all like friends, and sometimes I do overshare a bit (blame the ADHD).

However, I want to show you what’s possible with having a remote career. It allows you to build your career around your life (instead of your life around a career).

You have a lot more freedom over setting your hours and schedule, taking vacations when you want, and not wasting countless hours in traffic.

So, I wanted to ask you:

If you work remotely now, what has it meant to you? Genuinely I’d love to know the positives you’ve experienced from being remote.

Or, if you’re not remote but you want to be, what do you think it WILL mean to you? How would your life change?

I’d love to hear your responses, so just comment below or send me a LinkedIn DM and let me know. I read every single comment and email reply.

Alright that’s all for now, I’m getting back to regular work. I’m working on getting everything put together for the upcoming Dream Remote Job Masterclass in a few weeks.

It’s going to be a masterclass (with limited space) where I share my best tips & strategies for landing a remote job in 2024. Honestly, job searching isn’t the same as it was Pre-Covid, so these are Post-Covid proof strategies.

I’ll be putting this masterclass out to the public & LinkedIn very soon, but if you’d like to be one of the first to get access, just let me know.

?? PSDon’t forget to comment or send me a DM and let me know your answer to the questions above. And, if you want access to that masterclass, send that DM/comment and let me know that, too. Just write something like “I’m In!”

???? PPS – Be sure to join the official Escape the Cubicle Newsletter and get this newsletter to your inbox. You’ll also get my “100+ Companies Hiring Remote Jobs in 2024” free PDF as a gift. Click here to join the Newsletter.

Thanks Wes. This post was well timed for me. I took a career break after my last remote job and tried to spend more time with my family and take care of my medical issue. (Which is better now and thanks for saying you're glad because I know I mentioned this to you in another message.) And . . . you responded that you were glad I was feeling better and you were very nice. Now I'm really trying to get back to work, but I don't want a remote job that's contract. I want a permanent remote job. Unfortunately my husband is a truck driver and doesn't get health benefits. So I'd like to get those instead of having to get private health insurance from the state like I do now. Full or part time is fine. I'll just look on indeed or go through a recruiter. I really want to get back to work at least part-time because now my husband's dad isn't doing too well and that's causing me to worry that I might start feeling stressed again. So I thought if I went back to work at least part-time it could distract me a little.

Wes Pearce, those nostalgic moments are gold, aren't they? They remind us why we started and how far we've come. ??
