A Trip Down Memory Lane: The Books We Kept Coming Back To

For many of us, our love for reading started in our childhood, when simply opening a book meant we’d be transported to incredible places filled with adventure, mystery and discovery.??

This World Book Day, we asked our team to take a trip down memory lane and share their favourite book with us, the one they kept returning to time and again. Here’s what they told us.?

Joe

Marketing Operations Executive?

“The book I re-read the most growing up, was How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell. It's the story of an underdog who shows those who doubted him why they were wrong.?

I kept coming back to it because I found the characters to be very funny. Also, I really liked dragons.”?

?

Craig

Trade Key Account Manager?

“The book I read multiple times as a kid was Six Dinner Sid by Inga Moore.? ? I would get this book out of the school library every week, much to my mum’s chagrin. It’s a story about a cat getting six dinners every night, which is the dream life.”?

?

Bleu?

Rights Sales Executive?

“Although I'm not usually one to re-read books, Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney holds a place in my heart. It was the first book my mum and I would read together and then I later learnt to read it alone before bed. A real classic that I hope to one day read to my own children.”?

?

Emma?

Marketing Executive?

"Matilda started my obsession with books; I wanted to read what she read and be as smart, witty and courageous as she was. This was a book that I picked up again and again to be lost in her world of magic and mischief."?

?

Joe?

Development Editor?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory captivated me as a child with its great tale of fun and adventure. Roald Dahl's vivid characters and magical world sparked my imagination. I couldn’t wait to watch the films and to see my favourite story come to life on the big screen.”?

Now it’s your turn: What’s that one childhood book that you've re-read the most??

I used to read the Milly Molly Mandy books a lot, I also read a lot of Enid Blyton - The Magic Faraway Tree being a favourite. I have fond memories of the Flossie Teacake's Fur Coat series and the TV tie-in for Jossy's Giants - still one of my favourite ever TV series! (I actually re-read this during my GCSEs as I'd heard that re-reading books you enjoyed in your childhood was a good way to relax the night before an exam - it worked for me!)
