Trigger points are tiny regions of muscle rigidity (about a pea or mustard seed size). These are the result of small knots of contraction that form in muscle and tissue when a body region is wounded or overworked. Trigger Points are something most common doctors ignore, but they might be the one thing that has been overlooked for several years, if not decades, in your case.
A characteristic of these painful points is known as "referred" pain. This implies they generally send their pain to somewhere else in the body, which is why traditional pain medications often fail.
It does this by changing the movement, sitting, or standing that in turn puts unnatural pressure on your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. This, along with postural dysfunctions throughout your body, produces strength and flexibility imbalances in your muscles.
Headaches, neck and jaw pain, low back pain, sciatica, tennis knee and carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by trigger points-you name it. They are the cause of joint pain for arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, or ligament injury in the shoulder, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle.
Rubbing the skin's surface with a massage lotion, a vibrating massager, or using heat will not impact a single point's tissue. The "knotted-up region" requires adequate profound continuous force. This profound manipulation of the tissue is known as Trigger Point Therapy.
As you manipulate the tiny points, your body will go through the release of soft tissue, enabling enhanced blood circulation, reduced muscle spasm, and also scar tissue breakup. It will also assist eliminate any poisonous metabolic waste build-up.
