These tricks helped me bring the best out of my employees in 2017
One thing I’ve learned for sure being a manager for all these years - good employee engagement means, great results. This is the reason 2017 was the year in which I focused on things that I can do to improve employee engagement. And, they have proven to bring great results.
"Want to bring the best out of your team in 2018? Start using ProofHub."
So, I’d like to share some of those tricks, steps or whatever you’d like to call them, with you that helped me take my team productivity to an altogether higher level. The list goes something like this -
More one-to-one interaction
One of the first steps I took was to make sure that I always had a one-to-one session with the team members, as frequently as possible. The fact that I was handling a team of nine people made it easier for me to do this.
What this increased interaction did was it helped in me getting to know my team members better. It helped me understand their point of view, which ultimately played a big part in people management. At the same time, it ensured that my team members trust me. These one-to-one sessions generally involved discussions about work, what could be done to improve the work culture and sometimes even covered talks of personal life as well.
More team building events
Knowing my team members was just one aspect of increasing employee interaction. The second important aspect of this phase was to make sure that employees get to know each other as well.
And, for this I resorted to my human resource department. We made it a point to have weekly fun sessions, which involved plenty of team building activities. Team lunches, excursions during long weekends and what not - I made sure that team members enjoy each other’s company get to know each other better. Because at the end of the day, they are the ones who have to work together and support each other in every project. So, we need to be familiar with each other’s temperament, and abilities.
More interdepartmental interaction
A business works successfully when all the departments work in harmony, just like our body. If the marketing department is doing great to bring in the leads but there are problems with the product, then the efforts of both the departments are going waste.
In order to make sure that different departments are working in kinship, I frequently arranged discussion sessions between team members from different departments. This way, members from my marketing team came to know what goes behind the scenes in developing the product. And, the engineering team came to know more about how do marketing efforts bring in more customers to use the product they have developed.
This helped in ensuring that every team knows it’s constraints, and requirements and works together towards achieving that ultimate goal of selling the product to a customer.
More celebrations, together
Most important of all, 2017 was the year for ProofHub that involved celebrating each and every event together with the entire team. Though we have always maintained a culture of celebrating festivals together as a team, but this year we made it a point to celebrate even the smallest of achievements.
Whether it was celebrating ProofHub’s anniversary, a team member getting hooked up, getting appreciation from our clients or whatever - everything meant a reason to celebrate!
And, the result is more happiness around!
As a result of these efforts I put in increasing my team interaction throughout the year, I am proud to say that my team is a lot happier than it ever used to be. As they say happier teams are more productive, my team has seen a spike in productivity over the past twelve months. And, that’s been a major reason why 2017 has been one of the most successful years for ProofHub.
As we approach the year, we continue to roll our bandwagon with the same spirit, working together and trying to achieve great things together.
So, what did you do in 2017 for your team?
